Tonight this needed a thread.

On his FB page a few min back..
I'll miss the Euros.

To me that's very sad news.

So I could be standing here, feeling sorry for myself. I could fear for my career, as others may do. I could give up.

That is not me.

I decide on my future .

There is a bigger picture to everything in life and only failing to see it, will cause me to fail.

I am a hard worker and a fighter and if you are too, then you know that, to people like us, success can come in many forms. We trust ourselves when the going gets tough.

I have the greatest respect for those who overcome their personal challenges in life with a positive attitude.

I want to live up to that.

So I remain calm and positive. I will continue to follow my path and I will do so with more conviction than ever.

I trust my friends and teammates to do well and do us proud at the next European Championships in France. I am now officially their most fervent supporter and I will be there to support them.

Written from my hospital,

Never giving up,

Vincent Kompany

Could be the one thing that saves his City career and deep down, I think he knows it.

He needs a summer of rest and recuperation and hopefully will be back to his best.

hope the guy comes through this but I cant help but feel he is now seriously considering his future, mentally he is as strong as anyone but his body is letting him down.

Great news, sensible.

Maybe the Captain has a future with us.

Good luck with the recovery Vincent.

Gutted for Vinnie. I hope he can come back but he really needs to sit down with doctors and physios and work out some sort of specific training regime - I'm sure he has already done these things - because he can't keep doing what he's doing to himself.

Whatever happens I reckon vinnie will make a good coach or assistant manager!

Very measured move by VK. Fair play.

He could risk breaking down and ending his City career by going. A good couple of months off working on his injuries will help him as well as us.

Not sure anybody can read that and not feel a mixture of pride that he's our captain and sadness that he's having such a tough time of it.
Good luck Vinny - go and get yourself better and take as long as you need.

Wonder if 'somebody' has a word?

Said to him 'if you go the euros you know what could happen...'

I spoke to someone in Madrid before the match, he supposedly knew someone at City (he did name him but I wont as it could be a load of shit) this bloke said that Pep had told Komps if he did not have an operation to sort his muscle problem out he was history at City as he could not be relied on. That would mean missing the euros. As I say it could be made up crap but I saw your post and thought of the conversation I had.
