Kompany statement (missing the euros)

I spoke to someone in Madrid before the match, he supposedly knew someone at City (he did name him but I wont as it could be a load of shit) this bloke said that Pep had told Komps if he did not have an operation to sort his muscle problem out he was history at City as he could not be relied on. That would mean missing the euros. As I say it could be made up crap but I saw your post and thought of the conversation I had.

Thanks for that mate. I honestly believe someone pep or someone else has said something along the lines of that. Doesn't give up that easy unless it's a choice between the two

Feel sorry for him. Belgium have a real chance of winning the euros and injuries have robbed him the chance of leading them out this summer. What a man, I do hope he can solve these injury problems. I just get a feeling that he's finished as a player, no matter how hard he try's to get back to his normal self.

City legend, he always will be, no matter what.

Cant see him ever getting back to his old self tbh. So sad as what a player he is when fit.

Maybe not but Vinny still put in fine performances against Madrid at home and in the Carling Cup final. He also scored a few goals at the start of the season. Unfortunately, Mangala hasn't come close to scoring once in two seasons.

Disappointing for him but from a city perspective I hope we find a replacement this summer, we can't afford another season hoping he can stay fit for more than a handful of games.

the bigger picture is that when you been told its rest rest rest and more rest or fast losing a battle at a age that is still young for a defender. maybe time to hang up the international football boots and solo start the rest of the playing days at club level and give him more of a chance of playing into his mid to late 30s. just listened to the paul lake story and it bring it home how lucky Kompany been and with the new technology he still could end up finished but Kompany been to the top unlike lakey so can have no regrets about what football as given him and can look back with good memories and silverware

Gutted for him buts its a wise decision, he needs to be ready for the new season, he needs to try and get through a season unscathed.

That's great news. Let's hope he can save his career with proper summer rest.

Sad for him but it is the sensible path. He is a great captain and things would have been very different this season if he had played every game. As an intelligent, articulate guy he has lots of options open to him if he cannot solve his injury issues. I think that he would be a great pundit but he may regard that as too easy and want to move into coaching. Fingers crossed for you big man!

I've got no doubt that he is going to make a top coach at some point in the future. I hope it's with us.
