Kompany had some good performances last season in probably our most unsettled position and somewhere i see us as needing an agressive player and leader something which Toure or Kompany will never be.

Totally agree with the OP.
Im not sure where all this "Kompany was amazing last season" stuff came from, he only played for half the season and even then he wasn't great. He wouldnt get into any of the top 4 from last season.

With Yaya in the team theres no doubt Kolo will start.
Boateng will probably start aswell. I've seen people naming Boateng at RB... hes a CB who will play in RB if we need him to but its far from his best position.

Kolarov--Kolo--Boateng--Richards

Lescott, Kompany, Zabaleta and Bridge in rotation/benched.

Boyata and Kolo have looked more solid than Lescott and Kompany. Kompany looks like a defensive mid playing CB in emergency mode. Lescott looks plain awful so far.

if we can just sign 1 world class center half that would do you can get away with that look at the rags they play johnny evans he is really bad but put him alongside vidic or ferdinand he looks a quality center half in my opinion kompany is a decent squad player but thats it he had done it for me when he let rodwell skin him at coms to set up everton's second goal he had 3 or 4 chances to put him into to touch bring him down he does that it stays at 1-0 but he did'nt any top center half would have done it any way i would keep him he's still young enough to learn but looking at his body language last night he was 1 angry man somethink had got his back up before the match i think he could be on the way out of our club

We give Kompany a chance but buy Luiz as insurance.

Luiz is a young player nobody really knows anything about because he's played one season in a poor league so how good he is really isn't known. But Benfica want £30million for him; RIDICULOUS!

He wasn't even taken to the World Cup with the worst Brazil squad I've eer seen!

Head and shoulders above Kompany and Lescott, pace power strength and far superior technique to anything we got, you don't get Barca, Madrid Chelsea et'al monitoring you if you're just ok he has a big fee on his head because he's good.

Plenty of quality players never went to the world cup it's all down to the national manager and personal opinion.

totally ageed! He's a very average player.
His passing is shit, defensively he's not great. he's too many mistake.
Good squad player who will do a job. but he is best 11? I don't think so
He was overrated by some fans

Surprised by this, I remember Bridge and Lescott being terrible in those friendlies and getting dog's abuse but not Kompany. Hopefully in two years time somebody will be bumping a Savic thread
