Any one else think his long balls and accruate passing were awesopme last night??

His balls cross field were amazing for a CB exactly what we need!!!

Guys a God in the making!"!!!!

There was one pass he played in the first half that must have travelled 60-70 yards with a ton of pace, beating Robinhos marker for height yet still landed inch perfect at Robs feet. It was an outstanding ball.

I love how he gas the skill to bring it out too. The Schalke game comes to mind. Turned from centre back to playmaker.

Some of his short passes were shocking though . He had bit of a mare for me last night

I only saw it on the computer, but i thought he played OK. The defence seems much more balanced as currently set up.

Apart from a couple of long raking passes out of defence I actually thought his passing was shocking last night. Not up to his normal standards. He defended like a trojan but his distribution was not what we are used to seeing from him.

Ye agreed, Just mean his long balls its another option for us

yeh he produce a long ball when they were needed, unlike dunne who panics if we havnt tried an attack in 20 seconds so hoofs one up in the 'vacinity' of a blue shirt......

plus

Kompany was also supporting a rather nice armband.....looked good on him :D

Why no Nedum thread?

Anyone who is in favour of moving this lad on for a so called bigger name is a nutjob.

All the attributes to be one of the best centre halfs in the country.

(and no, he isn't a full back as we all know pssing is not his best attirubute)

Top defender, top bloke.

Crossfield from over near Micah straight onto Robbies toe in the opposite equivalent and controlled and pushed straight into his path by Robbie !
There were 8 of us together at the match last night and to a man we agreed instantly that was world class. There were early glimmers of a very effective understanding being on the cards between Bellamy, Robinho and Ireland as well

I think Kompany, Richards and Onouha have big weaknesses in their passing. They do not look comfortable after having won the ball, they just loft it forward with no composure. Sometimes we need to clear the danger, no-nonsense fashion but not when they are not under great pressure. A little more experience in those positions will help in the future. It seems to be one those assets the top 4 teams have that we don't quite have yet.

I think the run that Kompany has had at DM has given him a boost in his passing quality and joining the attack from CB.

Richards and Nedum yes. But Vinny????

No.

He played a hospital ball back pass last night but other than that his passing and distribution were top notch.

He is technically excellent. Sorry to pull you up on this but i really think you are a long way off with that assessment of Kompany.

Agreed don't think it was his best game but still solid !

Have to agree with you both .......... parts of his distribution was pretty poor last night , to say the least ......... he did make one or two exceptional passes , but last night definetely wasn't his best City performance by a long chalk.

He hasn't gone un-noticed, there's a (smallish) thread on the matchday forum.

Yes, i was thinking about that before posting. But last night as we were watching Kompany, the person i was with agreed with me its not the greatest part of his game (not just the incident you mentioned), but he is a better passer than the other two i mentioned.

I still think City as a whole give the ball away too cheaply though (not last night, it was above our usual standard).

He had a really a bad game today, but hes not the only one to have shite distribution.
Weve been lumping it forwards with no reward since the keegan days
