Should never put him in a position he's not used to as he's just not bright enough to adapt quickly to it. That first goal was entirely on him not getting it. Normally he'd beg it back, but at wingback he doesn't know whether that's his job and ends up letting his man go and gifting them the goal.

You don’t play a new system with new personnel in such games, so you’re right that it falls on Guardiola. Walker was poor at the first goal but so too was Laporte who just let his man go. Even playing Walker further up stretched his defensive recovery ability, which was why he nearly got caught out later on.

Said the same last night. Neither him or Ferna can ever be classed as lazy. So if neither of them tracked Cornet, then why? It has to be confusion. There's no other possible explanation.

I'm a little concerned about defensive communication. It feels like we've been caught out with a high line (especially second runners) more than ever. I'm not sure if that's an individual or collective thing, or a coaching issue, or a rotating defence issue, or all of the above.
