As City fans, we want to think the best, justify, or just laugh it off, when one of our own gets ensnared in any kind of scandal. We have gone it many times before and I’m sure we will do it for more players and staff in the future.
The problem, though, is that it’s blatantly hypocritical and exposed situational ethics one should disavow. At least, a reasonable adult would see it that way.
I can hear it now…Let he that has never sinned cast the first stone…so I won’t throw any stones.
What I will say is that as a club, and a fan base, we should have standards. I don’t think Walker has met any serious standards of reasonable adult behavior.
He appears to be a dullard.
He appears to be a serial adulterer.
He appears to have the sexual maturity of a 14 year old.
He also appears to have the resources needed to possibly escape most of the negative consequences of his boorish, juvenile behaviors.
He appears to have a spouse who has been willing to “forgive and forget” for a price. I know what I call that. Your opinion may be different. Her attitude to date appears to have given him licence, if not overt permission, to be the drunken child he appears to be.
He appears to be on the downward trajectory of his personal and professional life.
Maybe Joao Cancelo has a second chance at City after all?!
To say Walker’s City career is over seems somewhat hyperbolic today, but I think his England career most definitely is. If the Police do get more involved and he’s arrested, then those last few drinks might be the most expensive of his life!
Certainly puts the pics of Gundo & Bernardo, or even Alvarez, in context, doesn’t it?
Engerland, Engerland…!!!
