From SPurs pont of view they are selling Walker because he has been a bit of a bell end and is falling out with the manager see end of last season s selection . They are alos presumably keeping Alli, Kane, Loris, Alderweireld , Eriksson Rose & Vertonghen. Probably more important players to them than Walker(and I think he is a good player and am delighted we look to be signing him) furthermore they will get a much better fee for him than we did for Tevez.
I am not for a minute saying we shouldn't have sold Tevez but it is a matter of fact that even big clubs will sell one of their better players from time to time.

Walker is a good player and would improve any side

Spurs are selling him because he is disruptive, lazy, untrainable and stupid. And Pochettino won't tolerate that. However good a player he is.

They're keeping them for now let's see where Ali, Kane, Alderwield are in 3 years time eh? We had no choice but to sell Tevez he became trouble and had to go had Tevez wanted to stay we wouldn't have sold him big difference compare it to Aguero, Madrid have wanted him for years where is he now? Top clubs sell top players when they have no choice because certain player wants to leave for example Ronaldo at the rags, Kroos at Bayern. As for Spurs they'll sell any player for the correct price always have and always will Modric & Bale straight away spring to mind other big players will follow for sure although in the market it'll be for huge money if Lukaku is worth upwards of 90m fuck me Kane will be worth 120 lol

If you are right, why are they selling Walker who is their 4th/5th best player and not Alli, Kane or Alderweireld?

Same is true of Bale and Modric. And Berbatov and Carrick before them. Those are the only players that Spurs have sold over the past decade and more that they would rather have kept. They were sold respectively to Real Madrid and Manchester United - arguably the two biggest clubs in the world - at a time when Spurs were not competing for major honours and appeared to have little prospect of ever doing so.

They should be glad to be rid of him for about £20m then, can't understand the stance they're taking.

some ITK from a Spurs board

"City may still be interested in Walker but no interest has been shown since Pep watched Walker play for England. Walker hasn't asked to leave but has asked Levy for more money. Surprisingly Levy has agreed but Poch has said NO WAY! He's starting to see Walker as a bad apple and doesn't want him paid anymore than he's currently earning."

take at face value, of course.

They are taking the stance because

1. It is City
2. He is English
3. There are no suitable alternatives
4. He has 4 years on his contract
5. it disrupts City's preseason
6. It fucks up Walker and is a warning to other players who annoy Pochettino
7. it is Spurs
8. Levy likes to reinforce his reputation as being difficult to deal with.
9. If VVD is worth £60m than Walker is worth close to that
10. Spurs have to pay for a new stadium
11. Errr... that's it

And if city pull out they're left with and even more pissed off disruptive playing, now that would be a shame ;-)

I don't believe Walker is on. Just a hunch. I think since Alves appeared for free, that's cooled our interest. I can see Fernandinho covering RB as back up till the right young replacement turns up, and us signing Bertrand and Mendy for the other side.
