Correct - they did the same with Ronaldo at Inter in 1997, ahead of their pending kit deal; Mbappe is their new R9, their new Jordan. They’ll want him playing for one of their clubs for as long as possible, and will likely subsidise a lot of his *salary* there by increasing the value of their endorsement of him directly.

Nike will be determined to establish Liverpool as the top club in England to justify their investment, while also out of spite to us and United - both former partners who they decided demanded too much money to continue the connection.

From Mbappe’s point of view, it’d be a step up from PSG - Champions-elect of a much stronger league, a proven capacity to reach and win European Cup finals, and as you point out to the stability of working with one of the best coaches in Europe in Klopp for the next half-decade.

The Coutinho money of course, both Spurs and Liverpool will spend plenty this summer. They couldn't give a shit about their staff, they are all replaceable.

Interestingly enough or not FFP takes into account the total player price, and liverpool spent that amount, some would say several times over, but the last i heard Barca owed between £ 27 and £60 million hence them wanting to sell him, what happens to liverpool and FFP if that payment never comes?
