Kylian Mbappe

It's the official line coming out of the club. It does not say that we have no interest in Mbappe. He has 140 characters to put into words what City have told him. Be fair.

I'm not saying we'll get him, just I give no credibility to Brennan. His colleague James Robson is saying the complete opposite to him on this. The journalists out in the US beg to differ too. Brennan's track record with us is pretty dreadful tbh.

It's pretty odd that the club are briefing different stuff to journalists in the UK than those on the tour.

Let's face it..if he were to goto Madrid he In reality will not be improving, testing improving his overall game .he will be going from a farmer's league to a league where real play only 2 decent teams a season where the prem is pretty full on...hopefully pep and the premier league and it's quality will be the pull

Hypothetically, what would his value to City be if he came with a 100% guarantee that he will achieve his potential? My guess is that it would be in the region of £250m, so buying him for £150-175m would represent a not insignificant discount to reflect the risk we would be taking.

Or are they briefing in LA that official talks have been opened, and in the UK that no bid has been made?

Not necessarily.
"Not interested at the levels being discussed," is the key line.

Yeah I think it's clear we have genuine interest, we just haven't made a bid yet.
The French press were reporting last night that we had made a formal bid. It seems that was incorrect. I was quite disappointed this morning when I read the BBC tweet, but it does not mean it's over. It's just not as advanced as I thought it was. Maybe I'm get dazzled by all the money that has been spent, but I really hope that we agree a deal at £160m. He is a really talented player to put it mildly.

I can remember thinking the same about Pogba though. It's easy to get in a bubble and lose grasp of reality. I was amazed when I looked at Ornstein's tweet to see about 150 Arsenal fans demanding news about Thomas Lemar
