Kylian Mbappe

It's still a great squad though.

No reason not to set the bar at the top. And ok to be 'disappointed' if we don't get there.

But, unless the whole thing goes backwards, if it turns out we miss our targets but look well on the way, we can be 'disappointed' & maybe critical of some decisions, but then just fix it & move up another level.

The big thing I want to hear, is something concrete about Pep staying on.

Whaterver happens this season, imo if he is committed to seeing it through, he will build the team we dream of. It will happen, I'm certain.

But if he fucks off after next season, it was all just a quickie in the pub car park rather than anything serious.

As much as I'd love to see us sign Mbappe, there also has to be the school of thought that if we can "find" and sign Gabriel Jesus at 27 mil, then we can find an Mbappe too. In a way, we'd be mad to spend the big bucks on him. At the same time, he does look a once in a generation type player.

I'd agree on Pep. Looks like the club has given him almost everything he's asked for, so it would be nice to see him commit now.

If I was a somebody at UEFA I would issuing a pre-emptive statement now, reminding everyone of their duty to work within limits and reminding everyone that punishments will be implemented. No excuses then for any team that abuses F.F.P. and UEFA can come down heavy.

They have absolutely no right to start making innuendos imo. Anymore than they would if it was us.

If PSG break the rules, then they will get their hats nailed on.

But nobody has any right to smear their name, without any evidence they have done anything wrong.

So you think he will sign a 10 yr Contract? I don't, no matter who he signs for

Normally its a 6yr deal mate......my point wasnt the length of the contract but that he's young enough to play 10 years at top level....in a perfect world that 10 years would be with us.

About FFP? Yes.

I'm not saying he's 100% off to PSG (thought it's understandable why he'd want to go), just I take issue with the premise that anything other than signing Mbappe represents a failure in the transfer window.
I agree, we've done the basics. Getting Mbappe really puts us on the front foot though. It sounds like negotiations to me now so City's refusal to just pay what Monaco want is working so far. The end result though will be the judge. We must have a value on the player at some point though, otherwise the transfer market just goes totally crazy, and we have FFP to consider as well.

His comments seem to suggest he will do. But I'd like it made concrete.

If our season depends on the signing of an 18 year old we've seriously fucked up somewhere, would love to see him here but I don't see it as a make or break signing and £150m + is way too much IMHO.

I agree. We pay too much attention to what comics say and less to what people and organisations actually do. I am as guilty of that as anyone because when I saw the Mirror and Sun back pages last night, I thought it really is true he's going to PSG. These papers really have no problem in just reprinting rumour.

Given the Neymar deal and what it's done financially i will go on record now and say for the first time i will be disappointed if our owners walk away from a deal for Mbappe because they feel it's a bit too much.

The whole football world can see what this lad is now and will become and it seems we could have him right now if we wanted almost unopposed but we seemingly are a little scared of spending such a huge sum and i dont for a second think its because we fear any FFP reprisals either.

We need either Sanchez or Mbappe this summer as it was lack of goals that did for us last season, no the defence imo.

City and PSG won't obviously go to fucking each other and buying someone's targets just because of each other but current political climate between two countries is such that deals between them two will never ever happen until it is resolved. There is huge and I mean huge hatred between two countries and clubs are not owned by some regular business people but by people from the top of states. Even regular people dealing with each other would probably be no as it would be seen as sticking fingers into the rulers and that's not really the smart thing to do in that part of the world. it's not really same as it would be in Europe, it's different thing.

Thanks for reply, so effectively you say we City and PSG are owned by political heads who are the source of the hatred for each other.

Fair point if thats the case so its quite an interesting poker game now then that Monaco are exploiting. Neither side wanting to lose face for political reasons yet football needs of each side being at times perhaps secondary consideration. No wonder RM pulled out of this one.

Hatred works both ways so something has got to give, luckily we have the oft quoted and skewed FFP for one side or the other to back out of the bidding and save face but imagine bidding without its rules.

You look at the teams in the last 8 of the Champions league. Those games are decided by the likes of players like that. Iscos, Ronaldos, Messis, Robbens etc. We aren't a machine like Chelsea. if we want to win the Champions League, we need players like Mbappe. He is in my opinion a player of immense potential who can make a big difference to the prospects of a club.
