Out of all the attacking players we have been linked with, Mbappe is the one I'd be most comfortable spending stupid money on, he's going to be right up.there but I agree, it's cherry on the cake stuff, when there's little bits missing out of the actual cake.
Jesus & Sané are both right up there too as good or better in the future imo & Aguero is better right now. Sterling is looking great. Bernardo Silva has another level in him, then for one extra attacking squad position we have Foden, Diaz, Roberts etc.
If it doesn't quite work 100% this season, it must surely be really fucking close, to something the likes of which has never been seen & there will be other attacking choices present themselves in the future.
Agree with this Knev. I'd just rather us have a totally balanced squad before we start these massive deals, I'm just worried that we'll see the same flaws rear their heads.

I still don't believe he'll go for more than £90-100m tops. There maybe some bonus' based on CL etc but just can't see him going for any more based on one really good season.
No doubt he's talented & will demand those sort of fees in the future, but not right now & I think Monaco are just trying their luck with high figures at present.
I said a few weeks ago, & I still believe it, that we'll go all out for this lad & sign Sanchez on a free next summer. Can see us doing a pre contract in Jan with him. But for now I think it's balls to the wall for Mbappé & nothing else.
More realistic.
I think Serge might be planning on fucking off after the World Cup, so Sanchez on a free, would then take the 'experienced' forward job.

I think building something is really exciting, even if that includes a bit of common sense boring defensive signings here & there & we have to add a bit more sugar coating a year later.
That's baeically what we did under Mancini & then went flamboyantly mental rather than senisibly maintaining it.

Same. Pep's comments re: needing something more/else was fairly revealing into how he sees this team's evolution. For a player to step into this squad would have to be a player of world class abilities. He's rarely so forthcoming so this insight is telling. Only Mbappe and Sanchez fit the bill as as far as players we are linked to. Prefer Mbappe but either would be a incredible get.

Just the way I like it. Am I wrong in saying that you want a balanced approach? Pep's ultra offensive. Being defensive is passive it's better to be in control.

Last season we missed lots of chances. I would be surprised if Pep was content not to get another player who can provide goals after letting Nacho go. There is also the possibility of a transfer ban? Who can we afford? A good CB and Mbappe?
