Incredible effort from Atletico.

If Simeone can beat out Real/Barca with that squad of players then for me he instantly propels himself into the list of all time great managers. I'm stunned that they're even in touch at this point, never mind leading the fucking thing with 6 games to go!
A said a few months ago on here it would be the greatest achievement ever in the history of football if the won it and I stand by that. Could also see them getting to a CL as well. And this is after selling their best player!
I agree with you on it probably being the best achievement in football history. I don't think it's even all that close either. You can't fluke a 38 game season like you could a cup competition.

The fact that they're still competing in the CL makes it even more mental as no-one could even say they have the advantage of being fresh for the run in.

Speaking of great achievements, Atheltic Bilbao won 2-1 away at Levante today, they're now 6 points clear in 4th place, above Sevilla. Considering they were scrapping near the lower end of the table last season, sold their star striker, and only have a narrow pool of players to choose from, it really would be something if they held on and got that Champions League place.

Llorente didn't do much last season, they were missing Javi Martinez, that's why they did so badly, replaced him with real betis' Benat this season which filled a big gap in the team, great to see the Basque hanging onto that Champions League spot though, especially Athletico.

The Seville derby on Sunday - a pity it's being played at the same time as us. Hoping for one last big send off for Betis before a season in Segunda.

I note that tickets only went on sale this morning for this game. Can you imagine our derby tickets going on sale just 5 days before the game?! The Spanish really do have a lot to learn when it comes to football administration.

Not 100% but I don't think so anymore. Last time I went I had to go to the ground and get my ticket the day before the game (and that was when they were in the Segunda).

Atletico have just taken the lead away to Getafe.

If they win today they'll go 3 points clear of Madrid with the better 'head to head' and 4 points clear of Barca, with 5 games left to play.
