La Liga | 2024/25

Flick quite impressive so far. seems it was a good decision by old Laporta to change Xavi with him. also bit bittersweet as we got him back but Gundo aint havig the legs to play this expansive, high pressing high octane stuff Flick put together so that also was a good decision tactically imo and probably helped them financially as well.

Xavi said many times that Barca squad is weak, not ready yet to go head to head with Real, Flick is a bit of the opposite type he gives more belief to his team than how good they are and this gives them extra level of confidence also managed to bring top form from quite a few players in a short time.

the big difference between this year Barca and last years is the speed of their play, they hurt opponents with a quick attacks, strong pressing.

on the other side as Real losing Modric and Kroos, no idea why they dont invest big in a deeplying playmaker. Bellingham isnt that, he wont set the tempo, while the other CMs they have are quite limited and more of a DM with good skillset. (Camavinga, Tchouameni etc)
Bellingham particlarly funny as he had one role last season which he enjoyed being the main mn for so long alonngside V. Junior, scoring lot, celebrate himself, and now due to arrival of Mbappe he as pushed back 15-20 metres positionally, and it just doesnt work for him. Real's play often bypass him in a way to get the ball quick to V. Junior or Mbappe who wont really look back and bring Bellingham into play 99 times of 100. neither does he impact build up much. can see him having issues later the season.
and then they have Arda Guler who is top class potential with very little minutes and also Rodrygo who is being benched a lot.
add in long term injuries to Alaba and Carvajal, and all of a sudden, they have quite a few issues.

wonder who will be their next big CM signing as thats what they should look for. unfortunately they have the skill to pick up top names without paying a penny to the other clubs, Alphonso from Bayern and TAA as well could be next. they save big onn the Bosman rules. this is one thing I would love Hugo Viana to use as did not happen much under Txiki.

7 academy guys in the starting XI for Barca in the 4-0 thrashing. La Masia is goated.

To be fair, Mbappe had an absolute stinker. How can you possibly be offsides 8 times??

And their 17 year old DM, Marc Bernal who is some talent is out for the season so didn’t play.

Mbappe will come good. He’s too good not to.

But his skill set is quite specific. Whereas big Erl is just a monster who would do well for any team he plays for.

There’s been a debate for a few years on who is the better player. I’m glad we got who we got!

Attitude that’s the difference. Mbappe has all the talent but his attitude stinks. Chased the money at PSG instead of improving by going to another league. Doesn’t track back , plays for himself

Haaland has all the talent but works hard , listens and improves. Helps the team

They don't have a double parked bus every week in that league because the teams in the Spanish league all play football?! Well apart form A Madrid they play rugby

How did Bellend shape up?

He's a very good player, but those first 3-4 months inflated his image. He's good, like top 20 good, but nowhere near good to compete with Vin Jr., Haaland and Mbappe. Hope Foden will have the better career.

Spot on.
You could add that they inflated his head, while we're about it. “Who else?”!! I mean, what an effing gobshite. Alexander-Arnold not far behind him either. What kind of gobshite actually goes on record as saying, outright, that they see themselves as a potential Ballon d'Or winner, especially when they are light years away from it? It's worrying how these young England players just don't seem to realise how much they have to prove still, how many hard yards. Hope Phil never gets like that. Doubt he will, somehow. Being from Edgeley keeps you grounded…

Always good to see Real thrashed, by the way. Whoever's doing the thrashing.

I have to wonder, though: don't Spanish football fans get bored to tears with La Liga? Especially if they happen to be fans of all clubs other than two? 1984-2024 — that's forty seasons! — Atlético have won it three times; Valencia twice; and finally Deportivo La Coruña with their solitary victory. Otherwise it's you know who ad nauseam.
