Labour / Tory Party meltdown Referendum fallout

I think the country wants more honesty and you can't get more honest than JC and his sidekick, apart from denying they are IRA lovers,Marxist and anti Europe they never tell a porky.

Which govt hung them out to dry in the first place? Im not sure it was corbyn that set up these trials of military personnel and you may be confused about this? It was possibly an attempt by the Blair govt (granted jc was a backbencher) and senior military figures to devolve responsibility for their war crimes down to the squaddies. It would appear that you along with most of the nation have fallen for this.

Don't make it worse for him, you lefties may turn a blind eye to their lies,love of balaclavas and hiding when things get a bit uncomfortable but killing kittens may convince the deluded that he is just another deceitful ****.

The best thing the Labour Party can do now is to unite and that will involve compromise from both right and left of the party, and that is the biggest task that faces them. If they can do that reasonably quickly (or at least appear to, after all the Tories have always had divisions and still won elections) and then start to attack the Tories on issues where they are weak then there is at least a chance they can become an effective opposition.
I still think however that the political landscape of this country could change dramatically over the next few years, and Brexit negotiations will be pivotal to that. A split in both the Labour Party and Tory defections to UKIP is still very much on the cards imho

I dont think we expect to be a super power, but the ability to defend the nation?

Days of invasion gone, are you quite sure about that? and the days of us being targeted by ballistic missiles have most certainly not gone and Corbyn would gleefully get rid of the nuclear weapons we have that deter anyone launching them.

His idea of scaling down the armed forced are to reduce them to a token force that will be part of a European army that will be a complete shambles from top to bottom.

There is his problem, even people such as myself who make no bones about the fact that I detest the Tories wont vote for him.

Due to reasons of ill health I would personally benefit greatly from a Corbyn lead Labour government, but I would be doing my children a huge disservice by backing what is an absolutely outdated, deluded, unrealistic on every level political vision that this balloon has.

So he's anti EU, but pro European army? I think you are confused.not sure I know of anyone sane who would not want to saee the back of nuclear weapons tbh. We tie ourselves up in knots about who has them, but to date there has only been one nation on earth that has been mad enough to use them in anger.

Agreed it would be ideal to have a world free of nuclear weapons, but guess what......not going to happen anytime soon. Whilst other countries have them we have to have them as well.

Why do you think that only one nation has used them in anger?

I can't remember anyone except the US using them in war. Happy to be corrected if wrong.

US - hardly gonna nuke us
France - well their nukes haven't really been helpfull in stopping them being attacked domestically, hardly gonna attack us
India & Pakistan - used by both to prevent them attacking each other.., unlikely they will nuke us.
Isreal - There to prevent any Idea of nearby countries attacking en mass, very unlikely they will nuke us.
North Korea - have not got the capability to nuke us at present.
China - global main player but also not a country famed for expansionism or war mongering, hardly likely to nuke us.
Russia - only country that might consider attacking us, but they know if they launched a nuke at anyone Nato would retaliate, more likely to attack us by land and sea than nuke us.

So of the other 8 nuclear armed countries, there is really hardly a chance of us ever being nuked and us using nukes, Germany, Spain, South Africa, Japan, Canada etc don't feel the need to have them and we don't need them either.
I would rather have a strong well equipt army/navy/air force and inteligence serviceready to defend this Island and help other countries when needed than money wasted on a deterent we will never use.

No one else is stupid enough to do so. Not even Kim jong whatsit. Mist of us grew up with the concept of MAD which is basically a global version of Americas fuckwitted gun laws.
If three people have loads guns pointed at each others heads, then the only way to resolve the impasse is by either going for it and hoping you are quick on the draw or putting your gun down and walking away. There is of course a chance of getting shot in the back as you walk off, but maybe a risk worth taking to resolve the situation?
