Lacazette

City won the double when Utd were weak, Arsenal were weak and Chelsea were in transition mode without a top quality striker. There is no room for error now with Chelsea being a much more complete side, especially now they have a top quality striker an a world class midfield player in their ranks.

Does it really not scare you in the manner in which Chelsea blew us away this season? We should have kicked on from our title success and bought genuine quality instead of adding more and more shit to the squad. A lot of pundits, journos and fans are now talking about Chelsea breaking away from the pack within the next few years and to be honest, i can see why, especially how we capitulated this season when we were under pressure. Now we have lost a player in Milner who was a key figure for us especially when going away to teams like Stoke away for example, we now need to make the right decisions and replace him with a player who is willing to fight for the shirt and dig deep when called upon. We cannot afford to carry passengers again like we did this season.

To catch Chelsea now, it is going to take some mega signings from us, they look far superior than us all over the park and are tactically more disciplined.

Under Mancini, we looked far more solid as a team and our defence was a much tighter unit. Under Pellegrini, we look all over the place at the back. We sold Nastasic who arguably looks a more complete defender than Mangala, who for me looks like he just does not have a football brain. I don't honestly care how many weights he can lift or how strong he is, his positional sense and reading of the game is nowhere near as good as either Lescott's or Nastasic's when they were both at City. Pellegrini and the backroom staff have a LOT of work to do. The jury is out for Mangala for me, one more bad season and he needs to leave ASAP. Yes, we score both goals under Pellegrini, but we have lost the art of being able to grind out results under Pellegrini in which will win you titles. Utd have done it over the years and Chelsea have mastered the art now.

As for the questions, you know i am right which is why you won't answer them. I am being a realist without the blue tinted specs on like most other fans. Even between City and Utd, it is difficult to pick which team will finish the highest this season and tbh, we should not even be in this position if the people behind the scenes at City could do their job properly. The money we have now, failure just isn't an option.

I agree with you mate. 100%
I’m very much a realist too when it comes to City but on Bluemoon you’re not speaking to your mates so when you have views like we do you have to remember everyone sees City differently and especially the people that see everything through blue tinted specs have real issues understanding the way we think so it’s best to not preach to the unreachable i find.
We all love the blues at the end of the day.

Mate
People like you deserve fuck all.

We are all very grateful, i love what this team has become now and i love our owners. The thing is, when you win the title, there is no harm in fans wanting the team to kick on and build something special. We should have done that after the 11/12 season and we should have done that after the 13/14 season. Lets hope this season we do have a great window and we can kick on and get our trophy back. Then if we do happen to win the title next season, we need to stop resting on our laurels and kick on again and again. Thats what makes champion teams.

We've won the league twice by the skin of our teeth when lets face it there were no outstanding teams in the PL .....United had been in decline, Chelsea were too and Arsenal had no consistency .... Lets get a reality check, one PL title won with last kick of last game of season and another won courtesy of a Gerrard slip. Mourinho comes back to Chelsea, one decent summer transfer window and Chelsea win the PL easily... Since Yaya, Silva and Aguero joining only signing of quality for me is Fernandinho and our clueless manager has not started him in quite a few games .... Stop talking bollocks everyone. Arsenal are getting there, so are rags, Mourinho wont be standing still and Liverpool have already bagged Jiimmy and cant posdibly be as useless as last summer in the transfer window!! All this f*cling complacency and banging on about past glories is worrying me ... Dont see us going anywhere but backwards under Pellegrini and Txiki needs to have the mother of all transfer windows!!

This...it's about time now we flexed our financial muscle (hopefully the FFP has eased such they we really are able to go for the jugular). We need a minimum of 2 big players to sign that will be marquee in our quest for European dominance at the moment I find us on the cusp of being a great great club with these additions but I find we are in an Arsenal sort of state in Europe. These signings will help us to be a major player and break this hoodoo...Come on City!!

I don't know why people feel the need to talk down our success. The rags were weak, so were Chelsea? Who cares? Could you not argue the rags should have kicked on from their win in 2011? Everyone seems to think Chelsea will kick on this summer... they had more money than sense for a long long time and they haven't won the league as consistently as you'd expect.

Every team tries to kick on but players age, perhaps the mentality is weaker, perhaps players get complacent... there aren't many teams that have managed to defend the title - it's a tough ask.

I'd also throw in that City have decided to re-structure their wage setup and how they act in the transfer market because of FFP and how that could have hurt us far more than it did. I know we've still spent a large amount but we've tried to build a quality squad and addressed the team as a whole rather than buy one marquee signing.

We're through the worst of it and now we're likely to see a combination of one marquee name every season or two (where necessary), additional quality through the sale/replacement of players either ageing or not up to our standards, and the promotion of youth.

The board felt we needed a young and top draw CB so decided to spend big on Mangala. They've felt we needed high energy in midfield so spent big on Fernandinho. They felt we needed some pace and were shrewd with purchase of Navas...experience with Demichelis and Sagna. Since the re-structuring of our transfers/wages from the January of Mancini's reign until this summer, we've won two trophies so we've done pretty well all things considered.

We've also seen more income from our players sales - Negredo was a great bit of business, how they shipped Rodwell I've no idea... we now have a few assets at the club to start to try and emulate Chelsea. What's more, we have a bigger stadium than they do and can generate more income to then invest in playing staff.

Don't worry about how things were done, by all accounts we know what we want and we'll get it. What's more, in short term history ever other window is successful anyway so we should be excited!

In terms of Lacazette, he's certainly an exciting prospect and yet more encouragement that there are several top players out there that we can move for should our preferred transfers fail to come to fruition.

I do agree to some extent what you're saying and i respect your opinion, yes we have had good success in terms of being the most consistent team in the league in the past 5 seasons and winning the title 2 out of the past 4 seasons, but i just feel that when we have been in the position to kick on once we have won the league, we then go back into complacent mode and stop trying to bring in the same calibre of player, you just cannot afford to do that if you want to sustain success. Their is a pattern forming especially in the transfer market, we bring in Aguero and Nasri in the 11/12 season and win the league, then we take our foot of the gas and miss out of Javi Martinez, Hazard, De Rossi and RVP and end up with Sinclair, Rodwell, Garcia etc. Then the season after we do flex our muscles financially and buy better players, Yes Negredo was a good signing especially for half a season, Fernandinho added more solidity and depth to the midfield, Demichelis added experience and Navas brought width, then the season after winning the league we end up with Mangala and Fernando... this season we need to make it our best summer ever in the transfer market because the competition is as fierce as ever. The one thing what really grinds my gears is, after winning the league in 11/12, why wasn't Mancini able to at the very minimum bring in a marquee signing? Just imagine if we would have paid the money for Hazard and got him now... we would have been champions this season, no question about that. We just could not go that extra mile when it was needed and in football you have to have the drive and ambition to go as far as it takes to secure a future world star which will guarentee you sustained success. The lad practically won the league for Chelsea, he is that good of a player. As a club, i just feel that we make certain little mistakes which is just ingrained into the club and is just what is expected of us, we need to shake it off our backs and change our mentality as a football club, we are no longer "small liccle City" anymore. I would have rather City bought Sanchez as well at the start of the season instead of going for players in positions we are short of. Nastasic and Demichelis would have done the job for me at least for another season and in return we are getting a player who you can put on the same shelf as Silva and Aguero, whether we needed him or not and whether defence was more of a priority, players like Sanchez improve your team tenfold in comparison to players like Mangala who nobody even knew the foggiest about. People always say, we don't need this player, we don't need that player, but when a top player becomes available, whether you need him or not, you have to jump at the chance to sign them and accomodate them in your side. Same goes for Lacazette or even if Benzema becomes available, whether we need them or not, we need to sign these kinds of players, players that make a massive difference to your team and bring a different dimension to your side which you lack.

Also referring back to Chelsea, the reason why i feel they will kick on is because they look solid all over the park where we didn't the season we won it under Pellegrini and Mourinho is not the type of manager to rest on his laurels, i can guarentee you he will bring at least one more marquee name to Stamford Bridge in the summer. He is a very ambitious and driven manager who is absolutely shit scared of failure. Failure is not an option to him... City need to adopt the same approach and just go all gung ho for the best targets available and just accept that anything but 1st place is a MASSIVE failure. I just feel that as a club we need to just start being more ruthless, if you want to compete with the very best in the world, we have to adopt the same mindset and that is including our summer purchases as well.
