Lack of pace

Silva's goal is justification enough that out and out pace isn't necessary. Strong, sensible running with good inter-changing are enough to beat a defence. From memory, there were at least 4 Liverpool players in close quarters but not one of them got near Milner or Silva.

This for me needs addressing this summer. In our starting 11 there's way too many players that are one paced and don't have much pace about them. Take our front six today once Yaya went off, Silva (he's amazing) Nasri, Dzeko and Garcia are all slow and pace is a huge thing in modern day football. Look at Barca with Sanchez Pedro Neymar. Madrid with Bale Ronaldo Di Maria. Bayern with Robben and Ribery on either side, pace frightens the hell out of an opposition and our only option is a pretty lame Navas. All top teams now require an abundance of pace but were severely lacking.

Pace is vastly overated. If all you need is pace why aint Usain Bolt a footballer
he wants to be and according to aguero good enough for united now ask yourself why parker is not a sprinter

Ooooo sack the board we lost one game. Everyone is slow. We need petrov back!!! Yeah we need to have really quick average players instead of david silva and nasri

Milner is one of those players who gets better with every game he doesn't play

Needs to be playing more, I could us dropping a Clanger and listening to offers in the summer.

Just as we did with Gareth Barry & Kolo.
History will repeat...

Really?

this isn't a game of FIFA... we don't need everyone in the team to have (in fifa terms 90 pace) Pirlo is incredibly slow but he could rip any player apart with skill. we have had a few bad results that's it. we do however need 3 new defenders with the likelihood of Richards and lescott leaving and a strong centre back partner for vinny... alos a midfielder or 2 wouldn't go amiss aswell.

but pace isn't a big problem, getting players to be on the same page as the other lads is however!

It's all about balance.

I think we need more pace out wide. When we play Silva and Nasri on the wings, I don't think we're at our best.

Nobody's saying we need a team of sprinters, but every top team needs pace. Look at how Arsenal's season has collapsed since Walcott got injured.

I think Silva's our best attacking player, so play him in his best position (the number 10 role) and have pace out wide.

The balance is perfect with pace out wide and the best technical players in the middle.

There's a reason why Bayern, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Dortmund, Athletico and Chelsea all have pace out wide - it's because it works.

Do you mean Lady Penelope's chauffeur? If so, being a string puppet, he found it hard to sprint more than a few inches.
