Lakey's Question: your most memorable City journey?

santander last season, spain yes turned up in shorts and tee, spare ticket too, was colder than england and pissed down all day, missed first 25mins of first half and 30 of second half due to local beer sold my spare ticket for 10 euros, but still a top day due to city being there

Mine will be hopefully sometime in fall of 2010 when I plan to make my first ever trip to Manchester to attend a home match! :)

I remember in the early 90's - it could well have been the friendlies before the start of the Premier League - we played VFL Bochum in a pre-season friendly, in Bochum. It was a lovely sunny day so I packed newly installed wife (now fell by the wayside, maybe this was a reason...) into car and we drove from Herford (about a 2 hour drive away).

We arrived very early to the stadium to find no trace of football fans but a large amount of mormons singing hymns in the stadium and generally having a good time. Ah well we thought it's still early, maybe they will be finished in an hour. We went away, had some lunch, and then came back - mormons are now picnic-ing and going back to stadium. 2 o'clock appears, and we begin to wonder when they will bugger off to let the football start.

Eventually a couple more blues turn up and we begin to question ourselves as to whether we are indeed at the right location. Asked in pidgin German where the match was to be directed to a very small ground, a sort of German Hyde United, about 30 minutes drive away.

We turned up about 10 minutes before full-time to see City do not an awful lot to be honest, but the crowning glory, making this a memorable away trip for a number of reasons is my picture with Niall Quinn - which makes me look bloody silly tbh, as I'm only 5' 6" but after the day I'd had I just didn't care!!!

It has 3 be my first time at Wembley 68 The FA cup Final againsr Leicester Nelly scoring Oh the journey back I will always remember that day still brings a wee tear to th eye 8 years old anfd going down there BRILLIANT.

Travelling from Sydney to Hong Kong, then flying out the next evening from Hong Kong to Heathrow to Dusseldorf then train to Gelsenkirken by 2pm of match day in one stretch.

The whole day was a blur due to tiredness, drunkeness, and jetlag, but it was brilliant.

Hi all
Most memorable journeys include Villa away in cup - gridlocked on M6 with a car full of blues - just pure belly laughs all the way - what away days are for!
However my most memorable is actually a trip back home. Old Trafford - when we won the season before last. Had arranged with my mate to go to the match head into town for a few beers and then off home. However, Vass scores 1-0, snap my achilles as I jump up! Ambulance to Manchester Royal. Three days waiting for operation, operation done, two days later finally arrive home. Total journey time 6 days!

Memorable for all the wrong reasons, mine was the drive home from Lincoln when they beat us 4-1 in the league cup ('97, I think). My dad, my uncle and me were so shellshocked we could hardly speak. The quietest journey I've ever had.

Has to be the coach trip down to Wembley in '99. I dyed my hair black and yellow stripes for the occasion and when we first got on the Bullocks coach in Cheadle it was all a bit quiet and subdued - everyone was obviously a bit nervous. We'd only just about got into the play-offs and then scraped through the semis against Wigan. Something felt like it was our time, but nobody wanted to jinx the day.

Trip back was much louder! Singing all the way, the motorway was awash with city scarves all the way home! Driver even cut short his break at the services so we could get back for last orders!

I'd remember that trip as well if I was a year early. Any predictions for 2011? ;0)

Has to be another Wembley '09.

The hype about Millwall fans ready to show up fighting and the armed police at Wembley train station was pretty surreal.

Ordering a pint at 5am. The girl next to me asking if I was okay (almost in tears with 10 mins to go).Sitting about 10 rows back behind the goal where the penalties were being taken. Phoning my old man back in Manchester just after the game, with him crying saying "We fucking did it!" continuously for about 5 minutes.

Lots of things that are hard to explain, especially the passion, to Canadian hockey fans.

City, one of the only things I miss about living in Manchester.
