Lancashire CCC

Gonna be a hell of a run chase this. The fuckers close the main carpark because united are playing, seems abit unfair

it's against teams you play against isn't it? So I'd say the size of the ground doesn't matter hugely as if you're able to score 300 then your opponent's should be good enough at that level to do the same, obviously it doesn't always work like that, but if you have small boundaries then great but your opponents will eye them up as well.

But to finish the best runner up if like Lancashire who play on one of the bigger playing areas you will never match the run rate of teams like Essex or Somerset who will play their 6 home games on village greens.

Apologies if I'm wrong but my understanding is it goes on net run rate of each game. So if you score 120 and your opponents 80, you have a net run rate of + 1. 3/over compared to 2/over. Which would be favourable to you scoring 400 (10/over) and the other team 380 (9.5/ over. Which would be +0.5.

I don't see how higher scoring games favour lower ones.
thanks for the clarification.

Half way stage update:

Group A:
Kent 195/6(40) v Nottinghamshire.
Northants 324/6(40) v Warwickshire.

Group B:
Hampshire 219/7(40) v Derbyshire.
Essex 297-4(40) v Lancashire.

Group C:
Somerset 258/9(40) v Gloucestershire.
Yorkshire 215/5(40) v Glamorgan.

So Lancashire have a tough task, chasing basically 300 to win. Their best chance if they win is Derbyshire knocking over Hampshire who only posted 219 which is gettable, as Northants have recorded their highest ever 40 over score and with Kent not even making 200 against Notts it looks like both Group A teams would go through, Somerset v Gloucs looks like it will be close whilst Glamorgan should get the 216 set by Yorks, so really Northants progress depends on whether Gloucs can chase down Somerset's total as it seems unlikely Warks will get 325, but you never know.

Lancs are nowhere near favourites at the moment though.

Fucking hell someone's scored less than Yorkshire. I do wish we'd take one day stuff more seriously, brilliant over 4 days and then we rest all our best players for the 40 and 20 over games. It's irritating.
