Laporte says goodbye

Would walk into every other team in the Premier League. I can't think of many better playing elsewhere. So it's a surprise he has not seemingly had any other options unless he's decided he is stepping down a level so may as well get paid big money.

Agreed, but can you see Liverpool losing many, i do think we are seen as a soft touch sometimes - but Bernado's issue did seem to send a message that we wouldn't roll over. With FFP you can't afford many give aways - it will come back and haunt us
 
Another player who was been a superb buy , only a couple of seasons ago we had a centre back injury crisis and Laporte played the last month of the season carrying an injury and helped us to another league title which shows the measure of the man. Cant believe only the Saudi's were interested in him , maybe we didnt want him going to a competitor but £25m is chicken feed for a current Spanish international in his prime , when the Rags are asking £30m for a donkey like Slabhead then Laporte's value is at least double.
Gvardiola looks a great signing and the right age but he has big boots to fill , Laporte was a brilliant player for us a real shame he has decided to take the Saudi gold because he would walk into any top team in europe , but maybe the club didnt want to strenghten our opponents , either way good luck Eric your welcome back here anytime.
