The meds im on are giving me cataracts.

The deteriation in my eyesight over the last 12 months is scary.

I dont know if im brave enough to have eye stuff done, i will need to be knocked out

Had it done in March, was -5.5 in both eyes and I'm now better than 20/20.

One of the best things I've ever done. Cost me £2,000 from Optimax.

If it is just age related degeneration,ie reading, I don't think you can have them lasered.
I know i can't, just normal wear and tear, so to speak.

They can do pretty well any prescriptions now within reason. I had mine done 16 months ago, one eye for reading and the other for distance, took about 2 days to settle my vision down and then maybe 2 months to get used to having 2 totally different eye corrections but once your brain learns to merge what you are seeing then its brilliant. I went to the optician last week just to check all was ok and she said Optimax had done a brilliant job and Iam now better than 20/20 vision. Best money I've ever spent at around £1700.

Had mine done at Optimax in Liverpool 1 about 3 weeks ago!

Took about 9 mins from walking into the theatre to being in a dimly lit room and been given eye drops and after care instructions. Overall I'd been in the building less than 40 minutes and I got there 10 mins early.
Apart from a slight bit of pressure on my eyes for less than a couple of minutes in total, I felt no pain!
Put it this way, the dentist is far worse!

I couldn't wait to go home and sleep just so i could wake up the following morning and see if I could 'see' the alarm clock!

I could! and almost immediately my vision improved tenfold.
It's like someone has removed a plastic bag from in front of my face.

I sit in EL3 and I can see the subs now!

Big big improvement !

If anyone fancies it get a price off Optimax and let me know.
I can get you another £250 knocked off by recommendation.

Mine cost £2290 for top of the range wavefront ultralase!

Worth every penny!

My lens exchange was a type of cataract surgery 'Ancoats' , and they dope you up so much you'll hardly feel a thing ..... once it's over you'll wonder what you were ever worried about.

I was told by the consultant that one in five people aren't suitable for laser eye surgery ....

that was just prior to him telling me that i wasn't !

Use one of the main ones , Optimax, Ultralase , Optical Express etc ..... not a back street joint.

One in five people aren't suitable for laser eye surgery , i was one of them so i opted for 'lens exchange' , a kind of cataract procedure.

Why did I think of this when reading your post ?

PS don't hit me for telling the truth :-).

Whenever I watch a TV documentory on this subject, all the experts are wearing glasses, so I think that says it all

This is very true..
My wife is a nurse at an Opthalmic surgery and none of their surgeons will do laser and most of them wear glasses, laser will stop you having to wear glasses if you only need them for long OR short sightedness (not both) but long term effects are unkown

I had it done just before Xmas and love it. I can't believe how good it is. I was long sighted in one eye and short in the other. I had an astigmatism in the short sighted eye. I was a bit dubious at first about having it done, but am so glad I did. The only thing is I wish I had it done years ago.

It's so hard to explain to people who can see things clearly how good it is to be able to see things clearly. If you had told me that I would be able to see this clearly I would have said you were crackers, but it so good being able to see as clear as I can.
