Well it seems to have taken ages but has come up quick, today I retire from the fire service 20 years 9 months, 35 years in public service in total! The last 6 months are not how I wanted to finish but there was sod all I could do about my bloody back, I’m gutted not to have had that one last good shout. It’s been an honour to have served the people of Manchester and I’ve made friends for life in the job they really are like a second family. Thankfully with the way everything’s going in the country I’m going at just the right time, I will be mortgage free and have some savings behind me and the family now. Hope to get a camper van and get out and see some of the U.K. and Europe following City as much as possible now, the mad dog we got will keep me fit. If you can do it finish as early as you can you never know what’s round the corner.

Congratulations mate and enjoy your retirement, thanks for your service

All the very best to you Maverick.
Make sure you sit on your arse all day and don't go out on 'one last call'.

Congrats mate I'm very jealous. Don't get into the habit of daytime TV I know a few who had plans that always started next week.
