Last Film You Saw

Watched “X” …Spike Lee’s biopic of Malcolm X, last night.
Not expecting to enjoy it, but found it a totally riveting watch. I knew only a little about Malcolm X, but learned a lot through the film. The Black Muslim movement effectively used the religion of Islam as a vehicle to advance its radical segregationist and black empowerment agenda. Fascinating to watch Malcolm X begin to understand via the Haj pilgrimage to Mecca that his chosen religion embraced all races - which opened a rift with the corrupt hierarchy of the BM organisation and cost him his life in a brutal killing.
Superb performance from Denzel Washington. 9/10.

final destination bloodlines

passed a couple of hours, one of the better instalments in the franchise

as per usual some really inventive kills, some really sick minds in this world

“Black Bag” on Netflix.

Good cast, reasonable storyline. All a bit stylized and clipped, but a good watch. Fassbender seemingly been pigeonholed as a spy given his recent offerings.

Watched it last night and thought the same thing about National Treasure! No idea who “Wish” is! :-)
Wish and Temu; two cheeks of the same shitty arse!

Fountain of youth.

National Treasure
Indiana Jones
The Mummy

All these mixed into one
I quite liked it, give it a 6.5

Has the gorgeous Eiza Gonzalez in it

MI Final Reckoning about 30 mins too long but a good way to round it all off with some callbacks to the other films, one in particular. Cruise really is the last action star and bugger me hanging off those bi planes he’s nuts, 7.5/10

"Better Man"

This has been out a while and I avoided it knowing who the biography was about. Did it show me anything new? Not really.

The was a small falsehood in the beginning that I, personally, knew was not true the way the story went.

What I did find interesting was why the main character is depicted the way he is (it becomes obvious, really, when thought about) and the conceit of narcissism on display and that battle or general cnutish behaviour finally admitted to.

Different-ish, but not great and not shit, really.

Watched three films over last few days…
Fountain of Youth - not very good. Actually got about 1hr 20 mins in and then bailed on it. Didnt care how it ended tbh. Been done before -and a lot better.
Black Bag - A spy yarn. Quite enjoyed this film - was like George Smiley meets latest technology. 7/10
The Penguin Lesson - Actually was surprisingly good if a little corny. Endearing though -Steve Coogan played his role pretty well (spoiler - he wasn’t the penguin !) Decent 6.5/10

100 Streets

Really enjoyed it though I guess it wouldn't be everyones cup of tea

Essentially a tale of how life doesn't always work out the way you plan it

To quote "Life's pretty simple, you know. It's long periods of waiting, broken up by brief moments of change. That's it. That's all it is."

Probably because of the Beatles thread I watched Nowhere Boy. A film about the teenage John Lennon before the Beatles were famous.
Quite good, Kristin Scott Thomas plays his Aunt Mimi very well.
