Gloria
Chilean film 2014

A story set in Santiago and centered on Gloria, a free-spirited older woman, and the realities of her whirlwind relationship with a former naval officer whom she meets out in the clubs.
Very enjoyable film. A bit slow paced but captivating.

7/10

Blumhouse's Fantasy Island
It's trashy but quite enjoyably trashy. 7/10

Lucy in the Sky
Seems to not manage to say anything about it's main focus. Not even Portman can make this work. no more than about a 5/10

I reviewed both this and the remake, "Gloria Bell" starring Julianne Moore and John Turturro, last year.

Same director does both, but the remake misses the charm of the original.

Turturro brings a better leading man but the original leading lady, Paulina Garcia, is somewhat freer in her performance delivery.

Both decent.

And so twelve strangers wake up in a clearing and they don't know where they are -- or how they even got there. In the shadow of a dark internet conspiracy theory, ruthless elitists gather at a remote location to hunt humans for sport. But their master plan is about to be derailed when one of the hunted, Crystal, turns the tables on her pursuers. I thought this was going to be just another hunger games, embellished with drawn out unmitigated bullshit during it's ninety minute run in the sun ... but no!

Right from the outset the film made us sit up and pay attention, especially with Betty gilpins killer performance throughout this gore-fest tongue in cheek film noir.( I have no idea what film noir means and it just came out whilst I was typing) It's not going to win accolades of luvvie reviews, but will have propensity to make a few of you grin from ear to ear during it's violently disturbing tenure. As our Moon is busy working out it's best ever top book selections, let us see who among you who is first to spot the clues left behind from the authors gnome de plummets, that effectively steer this tail of animal woe quite brilliantly through it's myriad of inner workings.

We scored it an entertaining night in and worthwhile watch of 7/10

Thanks mate, I didn't know there was a remake.
My feeling is that Paulina Garcia is so good as Gloria, she basically is Gloria :)
I don't think I'll dig out the remake, even though Julliane Moore is a fine actor.
I want to remember Gloria as she was.
Rudolfo wasn't great but an irrelevant issue, for me the whole film centred around Garcia's magnificent and totally believable performance.
