Bit bored so I've been pissing about on wiki and came across an interesting fact that QI would be proud of.
Can you name the actor who played a British war hero in a film about a famous battle in WW2. A battle in which he himself took part, but in the film he was played by another actor ?

Richard Todd in the longest day?

Audie Murphy went one better and played himself in "To Hell and Back*

Spot on GD, it must have been weird to act alongside someone who was playing yourself.

Murphy's military career was incredible. I remember watching one of his films and my mam telling me he won medals for bravery during the war. A quick check on wiki tells me that
"He was awarded every U.S. military combat award for valor available from the U.S. Army, and was decorated by France and Belgium"

Fuck me, that's some going, it includes the Medal of Honour too. Some of our members might be surprised to know that it's Americas version of the VC, and not just an xbox/ps3 game.
Most people won't remember him now, which is a shame. I do recall he was a bit of a midget though, and had to stand on a box during some scenes in his movies.
Ye I did a similar thing gosling him, suprised they haven't made an upto date Spielberg type film about him.

I watched a newish Adam Sandler movie that didn't make me want to destroy my tv

Grown Ups

A decent story really for what is a decent comedy 7/10

Don't watch the sequel then, because that will make you want to destroy your tv.

Adam Sandler has made pretty much the same film over and over and over again for about 20 years and nobody has seemed to notice.

Oh they've noticed, its just some people like it, most don't. he has made some half decent films like Click but also made some right dross.

Avengers Assemble - Really enjoyed it when I half expected it to be shite! 7/10

No I noticed it a couple of movies after Waterboy and gave up watching him after seeing previews but I was bored and it was on. Found it fairly enjoyable, not groundbreaking or anyone stretching there acting legs but decent
