Just watched 300: Rise of an empire. I hadn't seen much about it and was under the impression it was a sequel. The story actually takes place around the same time as 300 but from a different point of view...still a decent film none the less.

Jesus Christ you can tell you didn't pay attention.

Its a terrible film and +80% is based after 300 with some flash backs showing some backstory.

80% you say? Well the 300 die 68minutes into a film that's on for 94minutes. I'm no maths whizz like yourself but I'm sure that's not 80%...........then again I wasn't paying attention so who knows!

It's a terrible film alright. Completely fucking butchers the true history as recorded by Herodotus.

The heroine of the film was in reality a Greek Queen not some poor wretch. She commanded 5 ships and defected a couple of times during the war. The only reason Xerxes liked her was because he saw her ram what he thought was a Greek ship but it was in fact a Persian vessel.

This and the original film are really poor when it comes to Historical accuracy but not far enough away to be considered fiction. The worst of both worlds because as the last few posts demonstrate, nobody reads classical history anymore so this crap will eventually become the perceived truth for all but a few academics.

I don't even want to imagine how shit next years "Hercules" will be.

Gave up on The Deer Hunter after an hour. They'd only just got away from the wedding. Think my tolerance for long films has completely disappeared.
Wow! My favourite film and you only watched act 1.
Yep. I am a failure as a person.

Anyone who can skin a reindeer will always be a success in my eyes.

Currently taping Dances with Aliens and I might watch it later, once I can fast forward through the ads.

It upset me so much but I am a famous mardy pants, I blub every time I watch secretariat aswell. The worst thing is that she was mocked by her colleagues and it's a shame that it took her death to instigate changes in the law that allowed illegal assets to be stripped from criminals
It was just upsetting but Cate is an absolutely superb actress isn't she
