The other thing about Once Upon a Time in America is they completely changed the structure of the film as well without Sergio Leone's permission, so not only was the cinema release significantly shorter, it also ran in chronological order unlike the original because the audience was deemed too thick to follow a story that jumped around, it didnt jump around much but showed a flash back to the character's youth that lasts about an hour. Completely butchered the film and it flopped. The original is critically acclaimed as one of the best in its genre.
