Laurence Fox launches political party

I don’t say this lightly, but he could possibly be the biggest bellend on the alt-right circuit in this country. It’s a competitive field, admittedly, with the likes of Katie Hopkins, Paul Watson and that weird little fucker from the North East whose name escapes me, but Fox’s decision to boycott his local Sainsbury’s probably puts him in pole position for now.

Darren Grimes? Thick as mince

Safe space?

Fuck me what has this country become?

I know fuck all about fox, dont give a fuck about him either but safe fucking space?

Its a strange hill to die on.

We had a mental health workshop last year and we provided a safe space for people who wished if need be to have some time out. I didn't see it as offensive, its not like safe spaces are mandatory they are an option if required. Chances are they will never be used, but lets say a frothing RW racist lunatic abuses a black girl in the shop, do you not think its of for her to have a place where she can gather her thoughts and have a cry if need be and be alongside others who will understand what she is going through.

Hopefully this will never happen but provision for such an incident doesn't harm anyone does it. We have had safe spaces for donkeys years along gender lines, they are called toilets. Are you against women having a safe space to pee in private?

Or is this the argument of why should there be a Black police officers association or indeed any organisation that discriminates. Are you now going to argue against male only clubs on the grounds that are discriminatory, after all they are safe spaces for men?

Are you going to argue against the Workingmens clubs because they are safe places for the working class away from their capitalist masters?

It really is a load of nonsense from Fox, like i said a strange hill to die on.

The thing that he can't see is its the rise of people like him giving voice to their inner thoughts that create the need for such a safe space...........or maybe he can and he does it so he has something to moan about

See my post pal, there has always been safe spaces.

Its common sense a lot of it, but by calling it safe spaces it gets peoples hackles up as if its affront to freedom or something.

Rascal, take a look mate at what you've just defended.

The single, biggest pseudo-intellectual argument for the maintenance of the Jim Crow laws wasn't that white people are superior or supreme, it was that white people needed safe spaces from black people who were portrayed as criminals and rapists.

Even today, I still think in proportional terms, the biggest threat to white people from violent crime in the US is from black people. And I think the biggest threat to black people is other black people. I don't think they are workplace specific statistics but already you can see the huge danger of racialising crime and statistics and calling for safe spaces.

I was expecting the usual, 'this is all made-up response/just another Winterval' response which we've already had on this thread but I didn't think anyone would actually defend this.

Like you say, strange hill to die on.

I can't believe any rational person cannot differentiate between forced segregation, and allowing a group of people, whether that's Black, LGBT or train spotters, a place where they can gather and talk about shared issues at a time when that issue is front page news and dominating the media, including a pretty nasty backlash from people like Liam Fox.

I'd very much like to see the statistics to back that up if you're going make that statement.

I was a manager for Tesco for nearly 3 years. I can tell you from experience each and every day was spent with not enough staff and regardless of your role in store be it a fruit and veg shelf filler or duty manager, you spent most of your time on the tills serving customers.

Safe space to discuss a political matter?

How about in your own fucking time away from work?

Maybe they are using it outside of their work hours, or during lunch. How the fuck would you know?
