I saw Robinson interviewed on News Night by Paxman and Paxman didn't really have a go at him.

He said he would happily have muslim members in the EDL if they wanted to join. They already have many black or other ethnic members. They have a fringe that gets boisterous and drunk and noisy but is that any different than most parties or groups ?

He had agreed beforehand that he would not walk into 'dangerous' areas where his presence might cause difficulties. The nutter attacked them out of the blue and his mate, a big guy looking a little like Laurence De'Lallio was attacked. Rather than arrest the nutter, the WPC arrested Robinson.

He protested his innocence and said that if she had told him not to walk down a particular place then he wouldn't and if he had then she would be right to arrest him. He asked why she wasn't arresting the nutter who was still standing there watching it and she just said "we'll take care of that" and didn't. He pleaded with her to let him continue his charity wak and she refused and even though he wasn't resisting she arrested him
