Leadership

I saw Bernardo wearing the captains armband on about 70 minutes and I couldn’t get my head around the fact we lack any kind of leadership. Bernie was a complete passenger and how he’s captain is beyond me. I saw Ruben bollocking a few after one of their goals but there really is a lack of leaders in tha team.

Kovacic, should he manage to stay fit, would be my choice as Captain. Hard as fuck, a top quality player, and someone that everyone will listen to.

I’m with you on this.

Bernardo has been a great servant for City, but I never saw him as a leader. He used to be the butt of jokes from what I remember.

Totally my concern.
Not one leader in the squad when rodri isnt available, which seems more likely wont be a regular thing.

There isnt one player to calm the nerves when it gets wobbly.

Phil leads by example but few others do. He has more discipline than all the rest put together.
Xhaka at Sunderland?

Captain is selected by the team, and if they have most respect for Bernardo then I really don't see the problem.

Leaders on the pitch.... dias, stones, rodri, haaland, foden, bernardo - These are the players who are haranguing and willing the rest to pull their weight actively on the pitch.

Potential leaders - Nico's, reinjders, Donna, guardiol, 1 or 2 more. These players play with passion but are either not embedded enough yet or captain is just not for them.

Weaker players - doku, savinho, maybe nunes... I might be being unfair in them but I don't see a leaders. But that's OK, I think we have a good mix of personality and leaders. It doesn't replace the leadership team we had with Kevin and rodri and dias etc but they were at one time labelled as not leaders too. In fact some were just saying they are shit footballers.

I yearn for the days of Kompany, Yaya, Zabaletta eyc whose leadership would've prevented these collapses in the second half. We can go on and on about the abilities of individual players but can anyone identify a player who is a leader in our team ?
but these wasnt super stars when bought good players that developed

Khus is the man to lead this team. We just need to get him on the pitch first..
Is he fuck, looks frightened to death himself half the time hardly inspirational. He's living under the somewhat xenophobic elusion that most football fans have regards players from the old eastern block being hard as nails just because of where they where born.
