Greg Leigh (former City academy left back came all the way through with Devante Cole) at Ipswich this season starting with the game of the day against Bolton.

I am surprised Yeboah Amankwah hasn't got another league 1 loan yet, I could see him settling in the championship in a year.

Great game for the neutral today, not sure my ticker will take another 45 games like this though.

1-0 at the break and comfortably in control, then decided to revert back to what feels like the last 20 years of defending by allowing them back into the game.

Dele-Bashiru put us straight back into the lead and we had a couple of chances to make it 3-1, but instead 10 mins later we find ourselves losing 2-3

Again Dele-Bashiru draws us level with a cracking equaliser, and then we were in the accendancy only for the dark arts to start, keeper goes down injured, medical team take ages to come on, another player goes down injured etc.

Lee Gregory gets a 2nd yellow in injury time to compound the day so will miss next game.

Pompey will be a tough team to beat for teams this year, although they didn't offer much 1st half they have a decent shape to them and are tough to breakdown.

Derby get off to a winning start with a 1-0 home win over Oxford, Posh came from 2-0 down to win at Cheltenham, Ipswich/Bolton shared a 1-1 draw. Suprise defeat for MK away at Cambridge, Plymouth beat Barnsley 1-0 with wins for FGR @ The Gas, Port Vale beat Fleetwood 2-1 & Wycombe sit top of the league after a 3-0 home win against Burton.

MK away next week for us.

I thought we did alright for the first 20 or so minutes against Ipswich and deservedly led through that Morley penalty. I do think that the Lee Evans equaliser (not that one!) knocked the wind out of our sails and they subsequently looked more likely to go and get that second goal. Ultimately it never came (largely through some James Trafford heroics in the Wanderers goal), and both sides came through with a good point apiece in the end. They'll definitely be up there at the end of the season as I think we will be as well, but in the meantime it's on to my first game this season, Wycombe Wanderers at the Reebok on Saturday. COYWM!

Saw the save in injury time which kept the scores level, could be a vital point come the end of the season.

2 tough opening fixtures there.

Tickets for MK Dons away arrived on Tuesday, but unfortunately COVID arrived on Wednesday (after 2 1/2 years of getting away with it) :(

So didn't go today, lad watched it and said we were very poor 2nd half and they deserved a draw, but I'll take 3 points when playing badly.

One concern as it has been for the last decade is injuries to players already, with Lee Gregory suspended today Michael Smith then picked up a knock in training which left us light up top with Josh Windass & Callum Patterson (who can play anywhere, but isn't good in any position)

I'm hoping we can bring in another forward before the end of the window.

Elsewhere Posh make it 2 out of 2, good wins for Bolton (who will be happy with 4 points from ipswich/Wycombe), Ipswich, Charlton & Barnsley. Newly promoted Exeter & Bristol Rovers both won 4-0 today.

Charlton at home next which again will be another tough game.

Good day out at the Bay Derby today, morecambe Vs Fleetwood. 1 all and both teams look to be staring at a very long season ahead. Fleetwood fans are feral, seething coked up mass of humanity.

For 60 mins today we were 2nd fiddle, Charlton were first to every second ball, pressed us really well and were causing us problems down our left hand side. Far different to the team we played in February who were already on the beach.

We then made a tripple substituion one being Gregory and it gave us a focal point up front and the ball finally started to stick.

They made a quickfire sub and for me took off 2 players who were causing us problems, Jordan Stockley & right forward Corey Blackett-Taylor who I thought was excellent.

It still looked like it might finish 0-0, but finally Windass put in a peach of a cross and Bakinson headed home.

Like last week take 3 points when not playing well.

Elsewhere Ipswich sit top of the league after a 3-0 win over MK Dons, who are bottom of the table with 0 points and 0 goals, Derby made it 2 wins from 3 beating Barnsley 2-1, Posh lost their unbeaten record losing 2-0 at Plymouth (2nd trip inside a week after beating them in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday), Wycome lost 1-2 @ home to Shrewsbury going down to an 89th min pen. Bolton played out a 0-0 at Port Vale despite playing 50+ with 10 men, and looking at a still on twitter looked like they scored a goal but officials didn't think it crossed the line, looked a good yard over from the pic I've seen.

Bonkers game of the day is Accrington at home to Burton, away team were 0-3 up after 50 mins, before Stanley decided to give it a go. Within 7 mins it was 2-3 but then Burton scored in the 81st min to make it 2-4....game over? Not a chance.

Accrington made it 3-4 on 90 and 4-4 on 90+6

2 tough away games for us now, Posh on Tuesday & Bolton on Saturday.

Bad day at the office last night at Posh

It what is a difficult game anyway we had no Bannan (on the bench due to illness) and also missing Jack Hunt, after a pretty even start we were down to 10 men on 34 mins with Reece James (Left CB) receiving a straight red, can't see us appealing it so a 3 game ban incoming.

We subbed midfielder George Byers (MF) for a defender and he was far from happy getting into a touchline spat with the assistant manager, who was also booked for his troubles.

Bar a good 10 mins after half time it was damage limitation and we conceded 2 more goals from headers down our left to lose 2-0.

Bolton away on Saturday which is another really tough game, I've not been on our forum but even prior to that it will be Moore Out threads.

Elsewhere Charlton (who I thought were decent at the weekend) hammered Plymouth 5-1 who themselves played 50 mins with 10 men. Good wins for Bolton & Ipswich 1-0, 0-1 respectively, Exeter keep on going with an excellent 3-1 win over Wycombe, who like Oxford seem to be having a hangover from last season.

Barnsley beat The Gas 3-0, Pompey won 4-1 against Cambridge, MK Dons finally scored their first goal and won their first game beating Port Vale 2-1, Lincoln winnining 1-2 @ Oxford and Shrewsbury/Derby & Fleetwood/Cheltenham played out 0-0's

Great 0-2 win today at Bolton, who for me are a team that will be top 4 this season.

They were the better team for opening 25 mins, turning point was on 34 mins. Conor Bradley on loan from Liverpool went through 1-on-1 and put the ball wide with the goal at his mercy.

2 mins later a sloppy back pass was nearly an own goal, but City loanee James Trafford managed to scramble back and clear the ball, but it was picked up by Bannan and we worked the ball into the box for George Byers to score.

Within a couple of mins it was 0-2, a great ball from Windass put Liam Palmer through on goal, and he slotted home on what is his 350th appearance for the club.

Should have made it 0-3 straight after half time but Windass blazed over with the goal at his mercy.

For once we managed to see the game out, although Bolton always looked dangerous. Was suprised they subbed off Afolayan who always causes problems, especially as it was for Kachunga who when he was with us was awful.

Happy with 10 pts from 5 games.

Elsewhere Ipswich made it 4 wins out of 5 winning 0-3 at Shrewsbury and currently site top of the league, Wycombe & Plymouth also won by the same scoreline at Barnsley and Forest Green respectively.

Good wins for Pompey (3-1), Posh (4-0), Port Vale (0-2)
