I disagree. We know what the likes of Nasri and Navas give us and that's hit and miss performances. They're experienced but inconsistent. They are two players in our squad that can be improved on in my opinion. When we're able to field a strong core we should be looking at Roberts and Barker to see what they add when surrounded by talented first team squad members. What the hell is the point in having an academy or buying young talent like Roberts if we never start them?! Should we sell them and then watch them become proven players and spend £30m on them? Should we just buy the ready made Brazilian versions instead? If we don't give them a chance how will we know what they can do. I've seen enough of Nasri and Navas now and you can flip a coin as to whether they'll win you a game or do fuck all. Barker and Roberts aren't going to lose us the match and equally their passion and desire to succeed could be the driving force for the rest of the team to get up for the game and win it. If it's not working then Navas is available... I'd much rather have Navas rested and fit for the tougher games to come as well.

With the number of games we'll have this season the league cup is not a priority and though we want to win it, we shouldn't try to at the detriment of our league and CL form.
 
This competition should be for our youth payers and our fringe players make it be Known to everyone I can't see a problem with fans complaining
 
Re giving youngsters a chance: they get their chance to impress everyday in training and if they take it they will play.

Fully agree. Manager may be under pressure to win this as part of his quota. But it should be a secondary competition for us. In particular I don't like the home/away semi-final in January at a time when the FA cup is starting and their are important league games never mind hopefully a CL last 16 tie to get ready for. We just don't have the squad -despite what some might think- for this without using the academy and if we lose with a young side their should be no recriminations. If we go deep into the competition happy days.
 
we've gotta give barker and roberts some game time, they aren't getting any and this is one of the only games they might get to play. They are good enough and should be pushing for the first team squad, they just need a chance pelle !
 
I think CP will come looking for a win and that we need to match them physically if we are to win. Yaya definitely needs to start and I think that we need 4-2-3-1 to counter Palace's ability to break. I would go for:

Hart
Zabba Managala Otamendi Sagna
Fernando Yaya
Navas Sterling KDB
Ihenacho

It is important that we start well and do not let CP score before we start to play.

Really do not want to see Willy in the net although I think we will. We would have lost against the Rags and Seville without Joe so I can see no good reason not to start him.

I think Iheanacho will start so maybe we can play Roberts too, and use the bench for a 3rd

Need to ensure we have a strong team. Too many kids and it could be a bad experience with opportunities for future games gone in 90 minutes
