League cup - Crystal Palace pre-match thread

For what its worth I would play a 4-4-2 for the game and would rest some players for it.
Willy
Zabba , MDM , Mangala , Sagna
Sterling , Fernado , Fernadhino , Navas
Bony , Ihaenacho

Thats the way i would go at it. Have a mix of some youths on the bench to come on with some senior players. We just cant risk getting anymore injuries and playing at home with this team we should have enough to win the game.

Fernandinho is banned,5th booking at the vermins gaff.

Zuculini has gone to Boro on loan, as has Evans to Walsall....bit thin on the ground in the centre if Delph isn't fit. Manu Garcia is in the squad I think but would be surprised if he starts. Maybe Demi starts in the middle?
 
Are we having a press conference ahead of tomorrow? Other teams are having theirs but we don't seem to ever do one for League Cup, is it optional?
 
Is this one on telly? I've got my head up my arse at the moment and genuinely don't know. Sadly can't make it in person. Love the cups.

Ok - what about Gareth Barry then for a centre mid starting sport?

Yeah I completely agree. In England friendlies we would be much better to select the first choice spine and then try out attacking players. Testing a centre forward when he's no service isn't going to tell you much. What you want to know is if he gets a chance will he take it.

I just hope we use our younger players tonight and don't make needless substitutions. Barker and Roberts need to be tested at this level, and Nacho has to start as well. We're also down to our bare bones centrally so we should be looking to test Garcia at this level as he's better learning in the league cup than getting thrown in at the deep end in the CL for instance.

If the likes of Delph and Clichy were match fit there would be no case to start any youngster except Nacho. I'm hoping there'll be some good news about them.
