When has Pellegrini ever played "the kids" ? It'll be a strong side as per usual.

I'd like to see Sterling in the middle. He seems to be more dangerous right behind the striker. He would probably link up with Bony well if he starts. Sterling doesn't seem as effective out left at the moment.

So we start DeBruyne, a few days after a performance when he was clearly struggling mentally & physically.

Then we rest him in the Premier League at weekend ? Oh no, we need to play our strongest team. So we rest him in the Champions League ? Oh no, we need to play our strongest team. So we rest him in the next round of the League Cup, perhaps v Utd or similar ? Oh no, we need to play our strongest team.

I know, lets just keep playing him, day in day out, & just expect that he'll be mentally, physically sharp & keep performing at the same level, legging it around the pitch, full of energy, spotting first time passes & scoring goals, dead easy, & he won't get injured either, it worked a treat with Negredo, after all.

If this happens, & he suffers, half of you lot & Pellegrini, are morons.

As a rule, about half of people are morons, so don't be surprised that loads of people think this way.

There's 3 days between games, singling out one playe'rs performance from the derby, when you could point the same "struggling mentLly and physically" finger at almost all the team, is very wide of the mark.
You could also trot out the "get back on the horse" trope, which gets regularly used, which would be far more accurate, if he's had a bad game.
Or you could wrap him in cotton wool, and just get him out once a month, when the moon is full?!!!!
KDB hit the ground running, scored a few goals, set up a few, won player of the month..... Yes he looks like he's mentally & physically struggling!!!

Nev don't you realise that we have to take the League Cup 'seriously'. This is an 'important' competition and therefore we have to play our strongest team because we want to win the League Cup. It doesn't matter in the slightest that the last two seasons we have played our strongest team and been beaten. It's just unfortunate that Kun and Silva are currently injured, otherwise they would play in this important game.

That's why Patrick Roberts can't be risked, even though he is probably the most technically skilful young player in our ranks he might cost us the game. Same with Brandon Barker (even though he can shoot with both left and right foot)' or Kean Bryan (who could cope quite easily playing the Fernando role). None of them can be risked because we have to play our strongest team in this important game. It doesn't matter that we have another important game in the weekend, and then Champions Leagure games to play. No - it's the League Cup that counts.

Of course Pellegrini said at his press conference that 'it's important to bring young players through the academy and play them'. Of course he forgot to say that they can only play in games that aren't important such as....? Actually, come to think of it, every game is important and therefore they can't be risked.

Of course Pellegrini is proud of the academy. It's doing a wonderful job developing young players, and of course he has put them on the bench for Champios League games, but he can't risk playing them because he hasn't given them an opportunity in a prem game, so he doesn't actually know whether they are up to it or not. But at least he had them on the bench. This is the holistic way lol.
