League Cup Final Post - Match Thread

Funny how clubs and some fans dismiss this comp but I have had four of the best days of my city supporting life at these finals! The celebrations when Nasri Scored against Sunderland to the joy of penalty wins which let’s face it, when you come out on top, are brilliant. I thought it wasn’t our day yesterday and from about 60 mins on I thought we would lose out so it was great to see us win it again! What a great pen under pressure from Sterling.
Totally agree. More club fans at the LC final and it's so bloody difficult to get a ticket for the FA Cup final. It will be neigh on impossible for me the next time we eventually get there with the club selling so many away tickets to day trippers from overseas.
In hope of going again one day, I have to tirelessly cultivate my friendship with a Wembley seat debencher owner in the smoke and pray we aren't playing a London club in the final.

I agree. It's always been a 'fans final' with larger ticket allocation & sensible pricing. Hence the atmosphere inside Wembley beats the FAC Final hands down IMHO. I've been been to every LC Final that City have played in and each one has been a great day out. Even Wolves in 1974, despite the result. Those clubs who can't be arsed about the competition don't know what they are missing.

I can't add anything much to what has already been said. Chelsea players dived alot but were much better as a team, and the game was rather dull. Moss was crap. Jorginio should have been carded in first 2 secs and isn't that good on that showing. VAR should have allowed Agueros goal. Gutted Ferns and Laporte injured. So so pleased that Sterling scored that winning pen. But the overriding thing is we won another Cup!!! and a day out at Wembley is still a great day. We should never ever tire of or take it for granted.

They don’t and all this playing weakened teams bollocks from clubs like Middlesboro is bullshit for their fans and a real slap in the face. Sunderland fans had a ball when they played us. Yes they lost but I was in London the night before and it was absolutely electric around Covent Garden. Tens of thousands of their fans parting the night away. You don’t forget moments like that when you don’t get there often hence the joy we had in 99. Saddens me now that so many clubs don’t take the cups seriously just so they might stay up or get promoted.

I dont know the fella, but it as to be the same bloke on cheesy's blog from wembley yesterday ?
you can see the bloke is very upset and emotional,me heart goes out to him.is this him at around 10 minutes into this vid ?

John sits in front of me at the Etihad. I’ll make sure he sees this. I’m sure he want me to thank you advance for the kind words and thoughts.

Got back from the overnight stay in London tonight. Still laughing my arse off at Jorginho's Monty Python Ministry of Silly Walks comedy run up.

Jorginho's comedy routine was only matched by Kepa's 'Top of the bill' finale.
Kepa was hoist by his own petard. Publicly saying he was giving his team some breathing space - like it's perfectly normal......
We in the crowd knew he was faking it - his manager didn't.

Every time we ran hard at Chelsea - Raheem a case in point - we got cynically hacked down closely followed by someone rolling around like Adam West's 1960s Batman has punched 'em in the mouth. And yet we were made to look like the team that did all the fouling - we had 61 per cent of the ball !!!!!

Just want to echo the thoughts of the previous posters, heart wrenching stuff watching that video.

I hope that yesterday's result gives John and his family a welcome distraction and an inkling of happiness during what must be an extremely difficult time. All the best thoughts and strength for him and his family, I'm sure his daughter would be very proud that he went to Wembley yesterday and saw the boys win in her memory.

"Lottery win" ?
Look at the stats, won on points before the penalty shootout and if the ref had done his job on the 'sendings off' it would never have reached that stage.

Penalties are a lottery win. All about choosing your luck and beating the keeper. The ref didn't do much right, I agree. We definitely had the upper hand on the game but testing the Chelsea Manager in goal wasn't frequent enough and VAR caught Sergio's bottom offside.

Overall a draw after 120 mins football was about right. Still a bit concerned about the form of KDB and Silva. The cynical fouls on aguero, sane and Silva were really poor I thought and moss could have given at least one red.

Performance wise sterling never stopped trying, same for Bernardo, but zinchenko and Otamendi had excellent matches.
