League Cup Newcastle '76

My first trip to Wembley. 15 years old and remember it like yesterday. To get my ticket I used the vouchers you got in the programmes. You could also use the front page of an away programme. Old version of the points system.
Think it was £1.50 to stand although that could have been the 81 replay price.

What a day, dad took me and mates down in the car but didn't have a ticket ( my dad ) stuck in Wembley car park coming out behind the finglands team coach got on coach holding cup with Tony book at 15 years old this was dream land.

Missed the winner as I had a gob full of hot dog.
Remember watching the Big Match re run on the Sunday in awe of Dave Watson carrying on with Brian Moore’s interview whilst getting his wounded eye stitched.

Made an 11 year old boy grin from ear to ear the following week when I hopped over my school fence to present Mick with a hastily constructed well done card from all all blues at Brookhead School .

Fabulous day, the coach stopped at some country pub in Northants on the way back, loads of Geordies in there too but no trouble, plenty of booze sunk and got back to Manc about 4am, happy days!

Yeah, same age. Got pissed on a couple of cans of beer whilst travelling down there on a Finglands coach. Bit worried about the Geordies after but didn't see much mither.

My first one was the Wolves game in 74 and was in tears after thanks to their keeper who had a worldie. (Gary Pierce)

This is the game when I became a City supporter. Our family lived in Rhodesia at the time and my dad, a geordie, took me to the Redcliff Hotel to watch the game live. Not even sure how they managed it at the time with technology being what it was them days. As my dad was such a big Newcastle fan the 9 year old me thought it would be great to wind him up and support the opposition. Once the Tueart goal went in that was me in for the long run.

I went down with me Dad. Fabulous day. Went down on a special train with dining coaches, proper meals, white table cloths, silver service, the full Monty. I seem to recall my boss at the time (who was a City fan, natch) organised the train tickets.
