This is one of my biggest fears when my pupils (I'm a driving instructor) tell me they're going out with their mum/dad/boyfriend/girlfriend etc. I try to overcome this by telling them I'll advise them when they're ready to go out for private practice, of course I can't tell them not to, but only hope they listen to me. Many of them do but not all.

As for this woman, well, Australia was invented for a reason. She should be sent there for the term of her natural life.

Do you see 2 years imprisonment as a fair punishment given your first hand experience with drivers on their first outing?

I do yes. She should have been with an instructor with dual pedals. The little girl would have lived.

I learnt 95% with me mam but we had the sense to go to an industrial estate on the weekend/after hours/bank holidays when there was nobody there. I didn't go near the roads until I'd probably had twenty hours of driving around the industrial estate and had perfect grasp of how to control a car.

What an absolutely laughable sentence. I bet she was pretty delgihted when that got handed out. Take a 9 year olds life due to complete negligence and she gets two years. I hope she hangs herself in prison because that is what she deserves. Utter scum.

sad story! husband should be blamed in some way too. he loaded the gun and gave it to his wife(so to speak)..... as posted earlier.... industrial estate and practice! both morons!!!

feel so sorry for the loss of the girl and her friends injuries.
