Learning from Leicester City and their success.

It's not rocket science

Indeed!

They will give up on European and domestic cups and focus solely on pl next season just like they did this season.
All they care about is to not get relegated and if lucky enough they will stack up points with one goal wins.
yeah im sure they will be playing their second string in the champions league

Some strange observations in this thread.
36 points from shooting twelve goals"""""""""""""""""--just don't understand what the poster is on about
Leicester will be in a relegation battle next season and humiliated in Europe==they will do well do receive a bigger humilation than we had first couple of CL attempt

when we won the league it worked out at about £2,000,000 a point, lster gonna win the league at a cost of about £50,000, how does that equate to a better performance from us?
because they haven't spend 500 million plus?

Tell you what I've learnt. Fuck Tai girls and record it all then give it to the news and become the best striker in England

Sometimes the chemistry in a group of players works in a way that makes them greater than the sum of their parts. It was probably true of City in the 1999-2000 season. Many of Brian Clough's teams fell into this grouping.

Conflate that with an absence of injuries, good fortune and an increasing sense of self-belief and you have a group of players that will walk through walls for each other.

From a neutral's perspective it's hugely heartwarming.

Simple explanation then if yer don't know what I'm on about. Leicester have won twelve games 1-0. Three points for each game means that they have accumulated 36 points by scoring just twelve goals. Should it be fuckin' allowed! Have yer got it now? Or do I have to draw a picture?
so is winning 3-2 more acceptable than winning 1-0?

There's nothing much to learn from, tbh.

They hardly rotate line-ups.
They don't have the burden of European competitions.
Their 3 best players have been in the pink of health all season.
The "regular" top teams aren't performing at all.

Only thing to learn from is their desire and chemistry, but all that can be built into any team with that high level of morale.

Credit where credit's due, they are impressive for having stayed consistent throughout. This season's title was up for anyone to take it. Yet the top teams are all in some sort of strange unison that this season's title is not worth fighting for.

Where we can learn from clubs like Leicester, and many other, is finding value in the transfer market. Since Bobby Manc left it is difficult to think of a player we would get our money back on or has proved value for money.

We seem to pay overpriced fees for average players. Players like Mangala were fourth choice for France, behind Sakho for one, and yet the reputed fee ranges from 32- 42 million whoever you choose to believe.

They remind me of our season under Sven, but without the injuries and meddling owner and with shite performances from the 'big' teams.

You can't instill character into a player - you've either got it or you haven't. Leicester players have it, ours haven't.

We have it and had it in the passed. Hunger, fitness and age have caught up
with us. We need a manager who adapts to the opposition and adapts our tactics. We've GOT to improve player recruitment and bring our own players through.
The big question is why have City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Utd with all their resources and experience been so far off the pace. I'd suggest ultimately complacency coupled with other clubs sharper recruitment and tactical awareness.

Draw the picture or give us the list. Or could it be you're chatting shit? There are several sites showing results from this season. Which one has the twelve 1-0 wins?

i laugh at the comment "Leicester will have the pressure, they never been there before. City did."
when you have consistency, you don't have to give a shit about other team's result.
Leicester deserve to win the league. they are worthy winner this year.

Hope pep has watched them this year and realised that possession football will not work in English football now.

Our scouts also need to be given a rocket up their arses..or they need to be trusted more if I'm mistaken that they wouldn't look outside the top European leagues.

It appears team that play with a "high press" are becoming successful this season , Likkle Leicester , Spuds and Klopp has introduced this tactic at the dippers , where as ourselves , the goons , chelski , and even the rags who dominate possession are suffering , Pep manages in a similar vane , apparently he has a six second rule to regain possession , so his team selection could raise a few eye brows next season , the likes of Yaya and Bony are not suited to this game , so interesting times ahead . As for the title i hope Spuds win it , they have played the best football , and i rate Pochetino as a manager , and as a bonus , it will wind up all the goons.

Didn't want to start a new thread. But watching England last night highlighted everything that has been wrong with City for some time.

The closing down in the opposition third was amazing. The Germans never had any time on the ball. The energy the young team showed both with and without the ball put City to shame. I appreciate that we do try to play a different style but as someone has already said the teams doing well this season are in your face all the time.

Hopefully the slow build up play will be a thing of the past next year too.
