Lee Nelson's: Well Good Show....

He seems to have taken one very average joke (i.e. look at me, I'm dressing and acting like an undereducated moron) and stretched it out in an attempt to make a career out of it.

You could say Ali G did a similar thing but the thing that made that successful was the interaction with other people and the thought that went into how that would play out.

When he went out of that scenario and tried some studio based shows, they were also dogshit.

This bloke is poor, poor, poor imo and I suspect that a large part of his audience is made up of people who are laughing slightly too much in recognition of actions/language/mannerisms, rather than in acknowledgement of the absurdity of someone who looks/behaves like that.

But it's not true though. He does several characters, it's just that the Beeb obviously decided to commission the chav bloke

Tell me this is not funny:

I very much doubt that Simon Brodkin went to prep school and Cambridge like Sacha Baron Cohen did.

You proved that by stalking Jordan......

:)

Back on topic maybe it's a generational thing. He is taking the piss out of chavs who don't seem to realise it. Jason Bent is his best character IMO.

I think it's fair to say there's a big generation gap in this thread.
It seems that the young 'uns - lee, Bob etc - like the show, those of us with a few more rings around the trunk would rather be boiled alive in our own shit than sit through an entire episode.
To be fair, I don't think the show is aimed at us, it's for the youngsters and why shouldn't they have their own stuff - music, films, TV shows etc - that 30 and 40 somethings hate or don't 'get?' We certainly did at their age.
In our defence, though, we older viewers are probably still scarred by the memory of a similar character Lenny Henry used to do called Delbert Wilkins. Now he was bleakly unfunny on a nuclear scale.
