Lee Nelson's: Well Good Show....

What about Jason Bent JMA?

I've only seen snippets of that a couple of times, as well as just watching that 6 minute clip on the previous page.

Much better than the other stuff but not really my cup of tea, that style of comedy. It's just a bit obvious imo.

I'm no expert though

So obvious that no one done it before. Give him some credit

Has anyone tried watching this? I tried the other day and was like "OFF" after 5 minutes. It's basically a thirtysomething year old man acting like a 17 year old looter, I think it's suppose to be like a stand up comedy sketch show but it's just fucking awful and painful to watch to its full potential.

Cringeworthy Telly.... Just no.

Why has TV dumbed down to the max?

Not watched it, the trailer with the "I finally got a credit card.......it had my name on it" put me off, if that was a highlight of the show then count me out.

TV has dumbed down, was watching that cowboy builders (or some such program) the other night and done that absurd American TV thing where every 5 minutes they repeat the key points of the story again and again just incase the audience had absolutely no attention span.

Off topic but I remember watching a program on American TV where they were interviewing a bloke from Glasgow and they had to put subtitles up, it was a thick accent alright but he weren't that difficult to understand!

I have watched a few episodes of this and I have the following opinion:

At first I found it all a bit cringe-worthy, the whole chav-character, the 'innit' jokes, it's all been done before as people have said. After a while though I started to realise that this guy fundamentally is actually a very witty person. Just little things he says here and there are pretty funny and show a bit of intelligence underneath this 'chav getup'. For example the way he interacts with his audience members (they don't appear to be stooges but I could be wrong) he's pretty fast on the uptake when it comes to having a joke and a laugh with them.

I think his problem is that by going down this sketch-character road and doing characters that have been done before, he's isolated a section of his potential audience.

I think that Lee Nelson is intrinsically a funny person but some of his characters aren't. That's his issue really. When he gets it right though (as with Bent) he can be hilarious, but when he gets it wrong (acting like a chav) it can all be a bit annoying.

I think he should have gone with a better stand-up show format, maybe in the mould of Stewart Lee's show. I don't think he's at the standard of Stewart Lee, but I think it would have done his reputation wonders.

Watched this a few years ago now, he's brought this crap back then I guess.....

Time to throw his Rockport's in the bin me thinks.

Probably goes down a treat with the middleclass southerners

Erm...no it doesn't. I think he's a **** as well.
