Leeds (H) | PL | Post-Match Thread

“Any spectator who tuned in watched another City walkover. A scoreline that flattered limp Leeds. And now, with the finish line in sight, a fifth Premier League title in six years is City's to lose.” — Laura Hunter, Sky Sports

Just got in. An absolute throwback to the typical City of old today, the only difference being was we won.

Two great strikes from Gundo, we were in absolute cruise control but you always sensed if we didn't score a third there was a twist in the tale and so it proved. There were a couple of nervy moments just after Gundo scored the second. Then near the end their long ball was causing a bit of panic. Soft goal to concede, the defence and Akanji in particular has to do better. Haaland channeled his inner Darwin Nunez today and Phil missed a couple. Still three points is all that matters. On paper we've won our easiest three of the run in and put the pressure firmly on Arsenal. Come on you Geordies!

On the bus outside the ground after the game I noticed there was a bit of fisticuffs, the police leading some people away.

An all important three points to keep us top. Played well first half and controlled the game. Good strikes from Gundogan, thankfully he had his shooting boots on at that point. Second half was disappointing, walking football, probably why the atmosphere was so flat. We rested some key players and hopefully they will be fresh for mid week.

You sound like my Mrs…

(I resisted the urge to respond with “that’s because she’s sitting beside me.”)

Has anyone seen a worse team at the Etihad in recent years? Really trying to think, even when we have given teams a real thumping I thought they showed a bit more spirit. I'd be fucking fuming if my team conceded an easy cut back twice in ten minutes. And so much for the famed Big Sam organization, their shape was dreadful. And this was without arguably 5 of our first 11. Just wish the scoreline had reflected our dominance.

I agree but CL is very important to the players. Hopefully we now win the League, the nightmare scenario of missing out on the Premier League, knocked out of the CL semifinal and having to play that lot fills me with dread. I know a few Raggies who have bet that, they have their tee shirts and songs ready, let’s put them in their box.
My mate was telling me today that none of his rag mates, who are season tik holders are doing Wembley....they expect to get well beaten !!
