Leeds (H) | PL | Post-Match Thread

You are entitled to think it was a poor performance, but I continue to think calling the second half performance a “disgrace” is very wrong and—dare I say—very raggish.

@cleavers choice of word is poor,it wasn't a disgrace,as that implies something entirely different......but it was sloppy and unprofessional, and its quite correct to be calling the performance out for being such.

We went into limp mode, and began coasting, when we should have put our foot on their throat and crushed a team of little quality. That game could have ended very differently, which is mental considering our utter dominance and control for the majority.

Pep will be livid, but as i said earlier in the thread.....it may also serve as a reminder to stay ruthless and focused, and be very much a blessing in disguise.

It was just a gentle reminder that football is never done until the final whistle, even at 3-0 as Leicester nearly proved.

I thought we were outstanding in the first half. Leeds couldn't get a kick and if Foden and Haaland would have finished off some decent chances it would have been 5-0. Second half they had to do something at 2-0 down but we were still in control and again missed half decent chances. The penalty miss changed all that. Score it's done and dusted. We missed and it galvanised them. Everyone around me called it the longer it stayed at 2-0 they'd get one and nerves would jangle and so it proved.

It's been a long hard season and as Pep said after the high intensity Arsenal game we've played three in quick succession. We also had one eye on Madrid. Nine points, four points clear we can't ask for much more. We really could do with Newcastle winning as it then gives us some much needed breathing space.

I understand that perspective, but I think people expect a bit too much from a team that was trying to conserve energy against a team of little quality, as we dominated for all but 60 seconds of the match, with a view to the bigger test to come.

Some will say it was limp or unprofessional; I will say it was a dominant display let down by poor finishing from the best striker in the world (and a missed penalty).

That's it. Another day that would have been 6-1. The goal we conceded was extremely sloppy it should have been well cleared. That long ball hoofed forward was causing us a bit too much trouble considering they only had one upfront.

I actually thought we controlled second half and conserved energy. If we hadn’t missed the pen it would have been good enough. Missing the pen and then conceding was poor. Didn’t mind Haaland giving up the pen, it’s not like he scores them all either.

It's funny/strange reading the comments. I only saw the 1st half, it was the early hours here, and we were completely dominant. I'm ashamed to say I fell asleep at HT. I thought I'd wake up to 3 or 4 nil. We were so good, especially after 7 changes.
Ahh well a scare but another 3 points, that's what counts now. Well done City !!
Fell asleep my arse, you were waving your Union Jack at the tv watching Charlie's crowning ;)

Tbh that’s what I thought the Leicester 2nd half was going to be for us but we still switched off again!

Spot on.

We won 10 PL games in a row while competing in the CL and reaching the FA Cup final. The performance wasn't unprofessional, given they had one chance to score all game.

It's football. Sometimes you create many chances but couldn't score from them and the opposition scores from their only chance. Such games are not due to lack of professionalism but to the chancy nature of football. Ridiculous to complain about that, given we tried to save energy for one of the biggest games of the season in 3 days, which was the professional thing to do.
