Leeds Thread - 2021/22

Leeds United were formed from the ashes of Leeds City with the chairman of Huddersfield Town loaning them the money. I think they then moved to Leeds, so for that reason alone Town fans have no love for them.

Me personally my older brother is a Leeds fan and me being from West Yorkshire I admit I should be too. I was taken to lots of games a child but it never felt like my team.

When I got to 16 a knew some older lads that followed Wednesday so started tagging along and this did feel like my team.

For me Wednesday Vs United will always be the game that matters, although only really knowing 1 blade if we lose I don't get that level of abuse as someone from Sheffield. I suppose that's why beating Leeds is nice.
Thanks for that. So when they’re doing all the Yorkshire stuff do you feel duty bound to support it, do you find it irksome, or do you just not give a fig?

Smart move. You saved yourself from a life of eternal damnation. People will not cross the street when they see you approaching, there won't be any whispered conversations when you're spotted at parties. People won't pity you.

It does tend to be a West Yorkshire thing, as Town when they were in the PL were marketing themselves as the "Yorkshire" club.

Doesn't really bother me tbh.

Sheffield people in general seem to have a glass half empty attitude and feel that compared to a city like Leeds it doesn't promote itself.

An example would be football itself, the modern rules, oldest club (Sheffield FC), oldest stadium (Hallam FC) oldest professional stadium (Bramall Lane), first game using floodlights (Bramall Lane) etc are from Sheffield but the City never seems to promote itself. If this was Leeds, Manchester, London it would be highlighted more.

I have always enjoyed meeting Blades and Owls fans on City trips. I also really like the city as well. It is very green in some areas and the humour is very Mancunian in my view. I think both clubs have incredible fanbases considering their lack of success. Sheffield is a proper football city.

I know for a fact that Bradford City and Huddersfield Town supporters - not surprisingly - absolutely detest dirty Leeds.

After yesterday, it’s clear for all to see that dirty Leeds is alive and kicking.

Literally.
I would be decked if any of the clubs fans in the whole of Yorkshire have any time for them .......... it’s not the actual club that the issue it’s there nobhead fans that are the real issue

Actually glad my lad is an Owls fan always have a good day when I venture down there ..........Leeds is a one team City with in all honesty nothing to compete with ....... Sheffield’s different all together ............ all that’s needs now is for Everton to pick up and Burnley the same and these bastards will start to disappear up there arses...........

Town are proud, they just don't have the supporter base reach.

As much as Leeds rightly get stick they have a fan culture that means their young lads feel part of something and have something to unite under and go home and away together over. Without that, like Hull, they'd all end up United and Liverpool fans.

I may slag the club but no one could deny that they have a great away following.

I pretty sure Littlewoods played Newcastle in the '74 Cup final.
Jeez, you are right. I googled it and it gets worse it was the Charity Fucking Shield.
The scouse wanker teacher brainwashed us for a friendly. Can you get any lower than that. Oh and I was 15, too old for the Priest but not a dipper.

Back in the late 1980's I spent 3 and a half very happy years working in Leeds. I don't regret a single minute of it, but in my experience their fans were mostly nobheads then and nothing much has changed, it appears. I'd love it if they went down - the PL can well do without them IMHO.

This is Leeds v Chelsea FA Cup Final replay battle

This is the Leeds v Liverpool Charity Shield

Both in terms of violence light years away from what is allowed now
