Leeds United 2016/17 thread

Leeds are playing some decent football now. I don't think they are quite good enough for the PL, but with a couple of signings - who knows?
It's time they were back where they belong - the top flight.

Leeds are despicable ****s but I like Garry Monk and hoped he'd do well after Swansea sacking him.

I hope Leeds come up, i'd rather the likes of Leeds, Newcastle , Forest, Villa, Brum, Wednesday etc in the prem then your Bournmouths, watfords, Swanseas etc clubs who only average 15,000, I just can't 'get up' for these games and the atmospheres are shite at home anyway.

Clubs have to earn the right to play in the Premier League and over the last decade or so, the teams you have mentioned have all earned that right.

And dirty Leeds haven't. It's as simple as that.

And if the horrible Yorkie twats never grace the English top tier again, it will still be to soon for me.

They might though, this season. You'll just have to suffer, because they will have earned it ;-)

Why not just get rid of promotion and relegation altogether? You can then just have an imaginary list of who you think are the 'biggest' clubs and bollocks to the rest of the deluded dreamers. And, whatever system you came up with, Birmingham would not be it.

TRotN must be a youngster, J.

All these memes are very amusing, boys - but consider this: Leeds' reputation is based on their style of play play in the seventies. Can anyone on this forum think of another team who are playing a different brand of football to that which they were playing then?

I don't have a problem with the "style" of football they play; it works for them, and that's all they care about. I don't blame them. No; it's the knuckledraggers that follow them. Ask any blue of a similar vintage to me (veteran, going on ancient) about going to Elland Road in the 70s/80s. And yes; they well have moved on. But a lot of us on here remember them only too well and (in my case) harbour a longstanding hatred for them.

If they get promoted, we can get an away game ticket, to see if they've changed.
If not, we'd have a memorable day out ;-)

As I've said many times, I hate dirty Leeds because of the horrible tactics Revie employed and the cheating bastards, like Bremner, Giles, Hunter, etc, he had to carry them out for him.

There isn't one non-rag I detest more than that ginger Scottish shithouse Billy Bremner.

And if any more incentive were needed, Mrs Vienna has told me of the nightmare of being an away fan at Yorkshire's equivalent of the swamp.

I suppose nothing will change that, but I can tell you that the Leeds fans don't have much in common with the idiots from those dark days - they've moved on as well. In fact, I would say that Leeds is among the best-supported sides in the country - and for that reason alone, should be playing in the top league.

I don't know how many times I've had this argument with people about why is X in the Premier League, when Y has great support. Simple, really. A club's league position is defined mainly by performances on the pitch (although Rangers and Leeds have had their wrists slapped for financial improprieties). It's up to each individual team to take care of business on the pitch. Having big support (though there always seems to be plenty of empty seats at Elland Road whenever they're on the box) does not earn you a place in the Premier League. Why should the players at, say, Hull be punished for the apathy of their fans? They earned their place in the PL due to their results last season; nothing more, nothing less. When Leeds manage to finish in the top 2, or win the playoff, then they'll be in the PL. It's not that difficult a concept to grasp.
