Leeds United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I’m glad the break happened, purely because I want us to win and our Muslim lads were superb.

Genuine question though, as I’m ignorant here, why is this a thing now? We’ve had Muslim premier league players for years. City have had loads.

What’s changed with the break today, or did they just get on with it before and play through it?

I get it’s nightfall they can eat, but surely that’s happened before.
It started in 2021.

It’s now a thing in 2026 because of intolerance spreading on social media.

Would the Leeds fans have booed if one or two of their players had been Muslim?

The FA approved the break and I see no reason why we can't be respectful of other religions and cultures. Pep handled it properly as always.
arsenal will have numerous "drinks" breaks tomorrow, with someone going down "injured" whilst not getting "treated" so not having to go off for the regulation period, nobody will boo that.

I agree i would not want to see any player suffer health complications as a result of dehydration. However, this break situation sets a precedent for further interrupting of the game I fear. What comes next? A 10 minute break whilst someone has a quick prayer? A 5 minute break whilst someone makes a confession?

That fat slug Shamoon only 2 questions to Pep yesterday were about players breaking their fast. Keep religion and politics out of football.
Footballers have been breaking fast in games taking place during Ramadan for ages. Athletes in other sports have also been doing the same thing for just as long. Players have been breaking fasts in Premier League games in 2021. I think we'd have seen them try to push the line back by now for more stoppages if they were interested in doing so.

I know, We get much longer VAR breaks.
Not just VAR breaks. There are breaks when players, esp keepers, flop on the floor, breaks due to problems with the officials communication equipment, the list is endless, throw ins, corners all take an endless amount of time. How many times have we had a Ramadan break this season?

I have never seen anything prove how thick Leeds fans are more than when their attendance was announced as 36k and they then sang to us, a club who have at least 10k more every home game " what's it like to see a crowd" thick inbred bastards.
Strong inth'arm , thick inth'ead

Is a one minute break for the health and safety of the players involved really bringing religion and politics into the game or is it just the bare minimum of being accommodating, for their sake, for the clubs sake.

Did watching that really take you away from football, I just don’t understand your PoV at all. It’s not like they’re preaching in that minute is it, they’re just scranning drinking various liquids and semi solids.

The only ones causing a stir, or a conversation about politics and religion are the Leeds fans. No story unless they boo.
Some teams take longer over a throw in!

IMO the people who are moaning are using the time taken for the break in play as a smokescreen for their real reasons for being annoyed by it.
