Leeds United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I’m glad the break happened, purely because I want us to win and our Muslim lads were superb.

Genuine question though, as I’m ignorant here, why is this a thing now? We’ve had Muslim premier league players for years. City have had loads.

What’s changed with the break today, or did they just get on with it before and pay through it?

I get it’s nightfall they can eat, but surely that’s happened before.
These breaks have happened many times. What’s changed today? Dunno, it being at Elland Road or bigots feeling more emboldened generally maybe.

I don’t disagree, but I only picked up on it cos our manager just mentioned it!

Anyway, reckon 6 wins from our last 11 games would guarantee CL football - but that’s not factoring in any head to heads between teams in the mix - so maybe 5 wins.
There's always the option of winning the chumps league.......

What you mean is keep religion and politics you don't agree with out of football.

Having a break to take on fluids is not a big deal.
Exactly, I don’t see it as a sign of anything other than players needing fluids.

I don’t want religion or politics in football but I don’t see today as that.

They didn’t need to put it on the scoreboard, it was a fucking drinks break for some players, nothing more or less.

Nothing has changed. It was the timing of the kick off and the time that Ramadan falls this year that meant that it was dusk at that particular time of the match.

I’m not against it by the way, I’m just saying I’ve never seen it happen like today, for me it’s just a fluids break, nothing more or less, but today they put it on the screen and made a deal of it. Previously we’ve had it during Covid for stuff and/or during hot weather.

I don’t see it as any sort of issue, just it was done differently.

Just flat out weird for Leeds fans to boo the 1 minute stoppage en masse. I could understand them not knowing at first and thinking it was some impromptu tactical break and perhaps a very small portion remained under that impression but for the vast majority, it became crystal clear what it was and the scoreboard displayed a message explaining it and yet they still chose to boo it loudly, that is when it turned into outright racism.
To think that most of their fans live in West Yorkshire which is a very, very Muslim part of the country only boggles the mind further.

Am I missing something? Why does he take off Marmoush every single game? The lad puts a shift in. And today replaces him with Savinho, ffs. Makes no sense whatsoever. Still, a hard fought three points.
Not his worst game today, but he just isn’t present enough in games.

Don’t think we will see him past the summer.

Not sure if putting it on the big screen is done routinely or not tbh. Guess it doesn’t happen that often (the fast being broken during a game) due to kick off times.

We often complain about fans in the stadium not being informed about what’s happening when it comes to VAR, so maybe Leeds thought telling supporters why there was a break would be better. With hindsight, maybe it backfired.

Think you've nailed it.

With what's occured today they felt emboldened to act like bigger cunts than usual.

What was controversial today, the Nunes possible handball?

Can't think of anything else.
It appears the issue was the time added on. I must admit to being surprised when the ref blew up dead on time - we're all accustomed to seeing another 2 or 3 mins added on top of the added time. I think the ref showed the red very quickly to their manager.

I have never seen anything prove how thick Leeds fans are more than when their attendance was announced as 36k and they then sang to us, a club who have at least 10k more every home game " what's it like to see a crowd" thick inbred bastards.
Meh......I thought it was quite funny and I'm sure a lot of their fans are aware of our attendances. They probably sing it every home game when the attendance is announced.

Strangely enough I got a takeaway last night as I was on my way to a job on a callout and happened to be in there just before 5.45pm, they kindly asked if I was happy to wait a few minutes longer as the staff were breaking fast and had been at work since 8am...

I waited, got some free pakoras for showing patience and had my tea 5 minutes later than I planned, didn't die, didn't complain, just got on with Life and wished them all well.
