Leeds United (A) | Post Match Thread

ha. yeah, probably not the best idea. i'm bracing myself for the usual scouse bullshit bingo, but at least we're still top, thank fuck
i empathise , got a couple of Dippers in the distant family thankfully only mix with them once every Bluemoon , neither of them have been to Klanfield but are "hardcore fans" they really are insufferable.

Mark of the champions !!
Foden and raz were both electric and deserved a goal. I think jack is waste on the wing but there’s no other position where he can get ample of time to do his stuff but all it took him was few paper balls to light his whatever in second half. Fair play
Baby rud is growing on me as one my fab this season.

Come on city

Some rum looking fuckers there.

And that's not even counting those in the stand!

Just back from Leeds. 10/10 for support from both sets of fans, reminiscent of days gone by.
4-0 flattered Leeds. Good performances from Sterling, Laporte, Dias. We were predictably wasteful, but can’t complain at 4-0. Thought we should have had a penalty, couple of shouts for a pen. Well done City…

For it to make any difference they have to lose one of the remaining 4 games whilst we have to draw one. Unlikely I think but I do think being ahead on GD has a psychological effect in a title race.
I think it’s if we lose and they draw, but agree not the most probable outcome. Still possible though, especially in the tension of a final day. It could also come into play if they lose one and we draw two.

I don’t think it’s likely to make any difference to the title race but it makes me happier to see the gap close a bit anyway.

Leeds boss Jesse Marsch to Sky Sports: "Our fans were outstanding. The best performance tonight was our fans. The reason they were so into the match was they could see our boys played well.

"I don’t think it’s a 4-0 match. We contained a lot of their really good players. If we could find a goal at 1-0 or 2-0 we could have made it more interesting.

"We wanted to be aggressive in certain moments in wide areas. We felt we could push them up the field a bit more and they played some long balls. We defended well in most of the moments. For the majority of the game I felt like we were quite good and unfortunate not to come away with a smaller gap on the scoreline."

On the free-kick for the first goal: "First on I don't think is a foul but whatever.

"We know they’re good at set-pieces and get a lot of them.

"Our guys showed up today. From the 20th to 70th minute we were really good. But this is what high level football is. It’s not just about good performances, it’s about scoring goals and preventing goals. A lot of good stuff from us."

On injuries to Stuart Dallas and Liam Cooper: "The Dallas one hurts [Leeds]. We think it’s probably not good. He has such a big heart and he's such a big part of the mentality of our team. That one we feel. We hope Coops isn’t that bad. He just felt something in his knee. Diego Llorente was feeling something.

"We’ll learn from today and can feel like we’re moving forward and making progress."
Progress? They started the day in 16th place, lost a key player in the warm-up, another one because of his reckless challenge, got smashed 4-0, and ended the day in 17th place. They keep up that kind of effort and we'll still be seeing Merseyside derbies next season.

away fans . low bow

Hopefully not, but it does put a little more pressure back on them because if it does come to that they can no longer rely on it as much. i.e. if we lose one, a week ago they might have thought a draw would be enough (all else being equal), but now we've pulled most of it back they could lose that potential advantage.
Just dont think both teams lose points at this stage….

You know what they (yeah, them again) say; you can pick your friends, but you can't pick your family.
