Leeds United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

A game of 2 halves
In total control 1st half but what the fuck happened in the 2nd half?
A lost aura, methinks.

Whereas a couple of years ago that first Leeds goal would have been regarded as an isolated cock-up before normal service would inevitably resume, nowadays you can almost sense teams thinking 'here they go again' and immediately buoying themselves up.

It's always been the way, with previously dominant sides who may be at the end of an era - far from sides dreading playing such a team, they actually relish having a crack at them. It just so happens that City are that team at the moment. You can see the difference in the tunnel before a game, where the intimidation factor has gone.

I think that Liverpool are in a similar boat, although to a lesser extent. United, even, probably still are, as far as PL first-timers are concerned, but maybe no longer with PL regulars.

Not intended as a doom-and-gloom post, just putting down how it looks to me at the moment.

Nothing that a dedicated, natural pair of full backs couldn't change, overnight.

Can't excuse that 2nd half but the referees performance needs investigating...
I'm not going to bother reading most of things because I know there will be the usual crop of whingers because we only just won instead of putting 6 last then, but that's football - nobody comes here to lose and we don't need reminding every week that we're not the team we were and we're still in transition.

It could be worse, right now Liverpool are making our defence of the title last season look like a valiant effort, but that's how tough it is. Despite how bad most think we are we're still up there.

My concern is the appalling standard of refereeing. No debate that we were robbed last week and this week wasn't much better. Their first came from a foul that wasn't, perfectly fine shoulder barge by Nunez (what happened to Khusanov BTW, named in the starting line up in the stream I was watching at 2:45....), and the second, can't argue about the pen too much but it wasn't as much of a pen as the Foden's non-pen last week. Just unlucky that the rebound couldn't have fallen any sweeter than it did for them.

But job done, plus the pressure back on the others and at least one of Arsenal and Chelsea will drop points tomorrow.

Such a disappointing 2nd half performance ... we have developed a worrying soft centre ... we showed a bit of guts to get the winner but we shouldn't be struggling at home to Leeds ... delighted to get the 3 points but the potential banana skin v Fulham suddenly looks a lot more difficult... Onwards and upwards ...

And the Sunderland home game is a no gimme

At the current rate Arsenal should romp this league. The only team that is playing consistently well and is capable of winning lots of games on the bounce

Only team playing consistent so far. It's a long season.

If they win it then they deserve it. But it's taken them 5 long years, lots of money, lots of fuck ups, bottle jobs and sticking with Arteta despite calls for the sack, to get here.

Let's see how they do.

We're in year one of our rebuild, we're not doing too badly.

Outclassed 1st half 3 or 4 easy.

Had a great go 2nd half, lots positives.

Bernardo well if he did that away from home think the ref easy gives 2nd yellow, it's a dive in the box very, very clear and cheating, VAR reviewed of course can't give yellows.

Foden banger to win it, could of easily done that even with 10 men but had Leeds player done what Bernardo did other end on yellow he walks, no doubt usual cartel of big club bias.

We're absolutely bang average, most of this team you could put in any other prem team and they wouldn't improve them. Weak as piss and dull to watch. Up the Blues

I think we need a balanced, neutral response to this.
Calling @jimharri to take the slack.
Over to you Jimbo.
