Leeds United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Nah. Its really shit. The fact that all teams now do it doesn't make it right. BBC wankers for trying to use it to make it look like its just us doing it though, or our fault.......but its a shit practice, hate it when teams do it to us. It needs to disappear from the game.
Agree . But it sticks in my throat when this import from American Football is only commented on when we do it . It's ubiquitous and one of many time wasting / regroup tactics most teams deploy against us . FFS Tarquins were at it at Wembley , after we won the Treble , and they clinched the Community Shield. In stead of a press trigger I called it a team talk trigger . Player sits down and everyone jogs over to Arteta . Happens nearly every match in the Women's game too .

I'm going to relish the experience when Farke is sacked. What a massive hypocrite he is! After they tied the score, his players took every possible opportunity to waste time, which backfired on them. Hoisted by their own petard...
Agree. When they equalised the momentum was definitely with them . He could have put the game to bed but chose not to and deployed the usual time wasting techniques .
Hence his deflecting snide remark about Gigi . He looked like a base guitarist in a heavy metal band whose mate just shagged his GF .

Yeah, probably played bass for one of those Scandinavian death metal bands.

Nunes, Reijinders and Gvardiol all absolutely appalling.

Haaland was totally anonymous as well.

Absolute shit.

Thank fuck for Phil.
Haaland did make a couple of good defensive headers towards the end. If he had been playing for Leeds in that second half he would have filled his boots. We were poor today and need to improve for the games that lie ahead.

Personally I don’t like it. I hate it when others teams do it and didn’t like it today. All our players running over today like naughty schoolchildren.

We didn’t get much better after it anyway as they scored again!
I honestly thought someone had collapsed and they were rushing to get a defib. Never seen Dias sprint like that in open play ...

Stick pep down and make him watch a game from the centurion season then today’s game, why bar the quality of player is it so far apart in terms of play..
Probably a lot down to the coaching set up nowadays. Pep has lost a lot of his original team and good coaches like Arteta and Maresca. Replaced by the likes of Lillo, Lijnders and Kolo

Not sure the second half performance was that bad. Their first goal was from an individual defensive error. Their penalty was from a stupid rash challenge. Individual mistakes but hardly a calamitous team performance.
Maybe. But we were well off the pace from the first whistle in the second half. Even in the first half I thought we were sloppy at times and this really took hold after the break. All things considered we are in a reasonable position after a third of the season but I won't be putting any money on us as things stand. Need to get better.

Yep said it last year that they can easily stop it stop more than 1 player going to the manager when a player goes down and if more than one player goes there they get a yellow card!

Haaland was off it vs Leeds but really good sides have a number of players who can rise to the occasion and deliver when it matters. Yesterday Foden did it for us, and it will be good for him that he did that. He's well on the road to being the player he was. Perhaps he is there now.

When a side has 4 or 5 attacking players it become really difficult to hold them because even on a bad day for the team, one of them will come up with a moment of magic. We used to be that side. Now we have Doku, Foden and Haaland who can in a moment change a game and we need one or two more (Cherki?) and at the same time we need to be able to assert ourselves for 90 minutes in games. At the moment I feel that if we do not make a game safe when we are on top, we will concede at some point.

We are close to having a top side again but it's a bit frustrating as if we go to Villa / Newcastle, we lose. We're still missing Rodri. But of course, any side would do so. Arsenal should be worrying about City, because if Rodri comes back, we will be a stronger animal.

I agree. There were moments in the 1st half when we gifted possession to Leeds and a better side would have punished us. We didn't play a great game against Leeds but we just needed to get back on track after a couple of stupid defeats.

The amount of players marking Haaland in the box was around 3/4 which meant the other players get chances! Think this is pep’s tactics sometimes

A good mate of mine, Leeds fan, asked me why Phil wasn’t given offside when he ran on to the Gvardiol header and shot to make the keeper save leading to the corner we then scored from?
