Leeds United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

No chance we spend that kind of money in Jan mate. Probably loan 2 players and buy 1.

Agree with the rest tho -:)

I still think there is plenty of money in the pot if the right players are available, Don't we have the new Etihad deal in the pipeline, rumoured to be around £1billion ? 3 world-class players that we need would be around £150 million

It wasn’t a “shitshow”, it was a disappointing result where we weren’t at our best but still had enough chances to win comfortably at one of the hardest away grounds in the country, and but for the real shit show from the ref and var we’d have had at least one pen, a bar code sent off and their winner disallowed. The fact you’ve got a like from Fordy tells you everything you need to know

The Premier League is becoming harder and harder with teams getting stronger. Newcastle away is one of the hardest away games, but we missed 3 or 4 BIG chances and we lost to maybe the dodgiest VAR against us ever ?

13 games in 5 points off the top and City still not in fully firing mode, think I would take that

Now, how big was that late winner yesterday, Sometimes a result like yesterday does 2 things really
The first is that you gain points on Arsenal, The second thing is that it breeds belief.
March 2012 late City comeback to salvage 3-3 draw at home to Sunderland. We all left the stadium thinking we'd blown the league and gifted it to the rags.

Without that point we never experience 93:20, Sergio's legacy is very different and our history is changed forever.

It's still early, 13 games in, City are 2nd and only 5 points behind Arsenal. Just put AFTV on YouTube you can smell the fear

@Tim of the Oak would help anyone I know of cases where he’s actually bought tickets out of his own pocket to help blues , if he said it happened and was Leeds fans I believe it 100%
The forum should take his word and leave his original thread up.
If it’s been removed just because of a tweet claiming ‘nothing to see here’ from the club then fuck City and fuck BM.

As an foc i remember the Leeds team and fans of the late sixties and the seventies, both were equally horrible. For quite a number of years that memory faded as they were never in the same league as ourselves. Time clouded my judgment and given they have a large fanbase and a reasonably successful past, i found myself hoping they'd get promotion. I thought they'd be a welcome addition to the league. How wrong was i! Sure they add atmosphere, especially at their ground but their fans are still horrible violent bigoted scum.
Add to that they are the biggest crying bad losers outside of miseryside. The absolute shite they are posting all over social media is a joke.

I get it must hurt coming from 2-0 down and losing in injury time, but let's be honest in spite of not being at our best the game should have been over at halftime. It wasn't and two bits of horrendous defensive mistakes got them back into it. Sure they probably deserved it and caused us problems but our inexplicable jitters contributed greatly.

Now i read we cheated because Donnarumma feigned an injury, Silva should have been sent off for diving, we can't fill our ground, blah blah blah. That's before we even touch on the violence that always accompanies these wankers. So sorry Leeds the amnesty is over. You were and always will be scum. The sooner you disappear back into oblivion and we never have to see or hear your moronic thick as shit fans again will be a cause for celebration.

So whythen did City see the need to publicly 'confirm' that no Leeds fans were involved?

Something doesn't sit right on this matter, and it seems possible that the club could at some point be accused of 'muddying the water'.

I appreciate the reply Ric, it doesn’t sit right with me this though. I’d question it if it was a large proportion of members on here who had posted the initial thread but not Tim.

Sonething is seriously wrong with this, and if it turns out the club are trying to sweep it under the table to avoid scrutiny they can get to fuck.

The conflicting reports do seem a bit strange. Guess the full story will come out eventually.

That is the problem though the full story doesn’t ever come out where the club is concerned - Istanbul , The Liverpool coin throwing incidents , People like Dodge and the way he is being treated - like many on here I’ve been a season ticket holder since I was 6 way back in 1976 and i still go home and away and Europe too however I have never felt such a distrust of the club and the policies they currently pursue - as much as I dislike Liverpool it seems to me that the group Spirit of Shankly have the right ideas in holding their club to account on various topics , I think we need to become more militant before it’s too late .

For me it’s not full back where we are getting dominated it’s midfield where we lose control, Nico G desperately needs a partner, and it ain’t Reijnders. Hopefully Rodders is back before Jan. We are desperate for another midfield tackler, tracker backer. IMHO anyway. Although Nunes had a shocking second half yesterday I’ll grant you

I disagree, he’s posted bullshit on here many times before now.
Maybe he has, I’ve not read every one of his posts but I’ve read enough to know on this occasion, on an issue as serious as this, he won’t be making the story up. I’ve had disagreements with him in the past, don’t always agree with some of his opinions but he seems a pretty straight guy who’s a blue to the core and gains nothing from making this up.
So on this particular point, I couldn’t give a fuck if he’s posted bullshit in the past, we all have at some point, the main thing is I believe his account of what happened and the clubs response is a bit fucking dodgy to say the least.

Exactly, he has a free pass but it still pisses you off when you see him putting minimal effort in to games
He was defending like mad late second half, important clearances, that is not minimal effort.

Man marked and bizarely none of the many first half chances fell to him.

Nowt wrong with his performance for me.

I'm more concerned with our defenders gifting them 2 goals.

The first is that you gain points on Arsenal, The second thing is that it breeds belief. Yes, I know 2.0 up at home to Leeds at half time, City should have walked home and won comfortably.

But break it down, the week before losing to Newcastle and then losing in Mid-week, the pressure was on.
Long gone are the days when City was feared at home and away, that treble season and the 4th title in a row and that squad are gone for good. We now need to rebuild a new reputation and put the fear back into playing us and it will take time

I still feel give Pep his best starting 11 from this squad all fully fit with games under their belts it's good enough to beat the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea. Rodri is a very big key to this squad, but Rodri is not going to be the player he was and this season and will be in and out

But what it needs are 2 new fullbacks and a hard-working box-to-box midfielder in the winter window ? Forget the cost just spend whatever it takes to get them in
Absolutely agree, but what we have to remember (or understand, in many cases on here) is that the rest of football has caught up, they're used to the way we play. How often now do we get teams who put 10 defenders on and try to hit us on the break?

Everybody is used to us and the know how to play us, but I still believe that the biggest factor is we have a lot of players out, it only just coming back, who formed the nucleus of the team that got us back into the top 3 last season. Virtually all the players, with the exception of Nico and Reijnders, have been out and were still don't have our best XI out every week as a result.

Haaland looks as though he could do with a break but Marmoush haven't really had enough game time to get up to speed and that applies to most of the rest, Ait Nouri, Khusanov (who I think will be stellar for us eventually), Rodri still out, Kovatic still out, Bobb not quite hitting the form he was showing before the injury, and so on. Given that were effectively still a patched up due I think we're doing perfectly fine, not where we really would like to be of course but that's just not going to happen overnight.

It's not the fees, it's the salaries. That money soon starts to disappear and if we got a patch where we're not winning anything for a few seasons then it suddenly becomes a lot harder to balance the books (well unless you're United of course, then you can spend anything you like without question).

We don't need 3 world class players, we need time for the new lads to settle in and get a decent run without injuries. They did OK for us last season, got us back up towards the top when many in here were saying we wouldn't even reach the Champions league, and now we're second on merit and still in 4 competitions so we're not exactly having the poor season that many suggest, but we're still in a rebuilding process which we've had to bring forward and it will take time.

We've seen enoughfrom all the new signings to realise that they do have the ability but they need time to feel, to get used to playing together and for most of them that means playing in a new league in a new country. It's not going to happen overnight no matter who you are or how much you spend, you only have to look at the rags over the past decade and Liverpool right now to see that.
