Leeds Vs Man City FA Cup Jan. 7th. 1978

They brought thousands to Maine rd Boxing Day 1987 .Platt Lane almost full.and they were loud.
And won 2-1.
My first ever Boxing Day game and Kippax was bouncing. .

Yes but in 2018 when they drew 1-1 did they take as many as us to

YORK did they fuck

I knew the area well as a kid in the fifties. Biked all over and played a thousand games in Wythenshawe park. Used to catch the 64 bus to Ringway to see the planes. Went to school in Northenden. Lived close by Sharston. Memories.........

Great times pal hard but great!! poundswick me?? the thing is when your a kid you know no difference

I have great memories of frequent trips to Leeds, filled with excitement & fear.
As a 12 year old boy, I made this trip with my older brother & dad.
The infamous Yorkshire ripper tape played to the crowd before the game,
Having run the gauntlet of getting to the ground safely, And worrying how we were ever going to make it back to the car park after the game, when asking the police if they would provide an escort, their response was “ no! You shouldn’t have come son”
Our fears were laid to rest, when the Moss side cool cats entered at 2.55.
Sat on the wall at the front mesmerised by DT ripping the Leeds defence apart, before they decided to try and get the game abandoned, one of their goons jinking past Big Joe, running all the way to the City end and realising he made a big mistake, before turning round... the referee announcing that we would play til midnight to get the game finished.
Walking back to the car park, watching the ensuing pitch battle between both sets of fans...
Thanks for the memories, happy days!...

Bulldog had his own little crew and was at just about every game home and away, old school thug with cotton wool in his ears and sported a donkey jacket, which plenty of us did back then.

I think we had over 13k there that day, it's the only time I remember us getting at least half of the Lowfields stand terrace, that side terrace was very similar to the Leppings Lane end at Hillsborough, split into pens with no option to swap pens once you were in, you had to go out through narrow exits onto the concourse and back in again if you wanted to change pens.

It was a great day though, fairly sure we drew Newcastle away in the next round and won there 3-1, another rough old day with the Geordies getting into our section and near enough clearing us out of the Gallowgate end, happy memories.
Drew forest in next round when they we're a top side first game called off waterlogged pitch rearranged mid week lost 2-1 Newcastle 1-3 was season before that it was a day far more memorable if you were in our end.Now I wonder what happened yesterday.

Remember the lad breaking through police cordon running half length of pitch to confront 10000 angry City fans, then realising he was alone turning round handed his self to police, which believe me was the wisest thing he'd done that day, funny as feck.

I remember we played Leeds the year before and lost 1 nil. Memorable for what I thought was the best save ever by Joe corrigan from Alan Clark. So good was it that BBC had a save of the season that year and Joe came second to Alex stepney tipping a long range drive over the bar. First time I realised there was a media bias

Think it was due to snow. We were on some station half way to Nottingham when we were told it was off.

My mistake, it all blends into one for me if I'm honest, the late 70s early 80s is these days just like one long season, great memories but jumbled up to fuck.. Yesterday you say, hmmm, nope..

It was indeed a great save by big Joe, here you go,

I'm probably wrong again but I think this was the game where a tidy mob of City came across the pitch from the Gelderd end, led by a lad I only ever knew as John the p---, tall asian lad from Rusholme I think, anyway Gordon McQueen (enormous head) gave him a mouthful as he sauntered past, John turned round and offered McQueen out right there on the pitch, McQueen declined and John left the pitch to a heroes welcome from the blues behind the goal.

Got loads of memories of Leeds away but as said, they're all blended into one.

Johnny Khan. Some great memories from those Leeds games. Went on the train both times. Long 2 mile walk.
